Can I get & install Homelink mirror after purchace?

I just got a 07 Sedan Sport but it doesn't have homelink and I had it on my last car. After 2 days of ownerhship, I now realize how much I will miss it if I don't figure something out.

Would it be possible to buy the morror with the homelink, compas, etc and replace the lame one I have now?

Is it a stand alone mirror does it need to be "connected" to something? The more I think about it, it probably need to get power somewhere,no?

Ugh, I just want homelink, what is it going to cost me?

Thanks.

AC

Yes, you'll need a power connection there.

When my wife bought her subaru forester we wanted the homelink auto-dimming mirror, but none of the car's in stock came from the factory that way. Our dealer added it on to her car after the fact. We had to wait for them to get the part about a week after we picked up the car, but it took them maybe 30-45 min to get the car in, install it and have me out the door.

The homelink mirror used in the subaru is identical to the one in my G, so hopefully infiniti didn't make it too hard to install it after the fact.

i think it's about $300 for the mirror and you'll have to run a full wiring to the dimming mirror/homelink

REALLY?? Wow, had no idea a couple of buttons and dimming (okay, plus a compass) was that expensive.

Homelink and dimming are invaluable tho, use them every day.

I've asked my service advisors from the dealer about 7 months ago about this and they told me that it is not possible to install one if it didn't originally come with it.

let me know if you were able to get one installed.

We had one installed on my wife's RDX after we had it for a little while, and the wiring was already there in the ceiling, they just had to mount the mirror, route out the wires, and plug it in. My G35x came with auto-dimming/homelink mirror, so I'd think that they are all set up for it.

Looks like they are made by the same company:

http://www.mitocorp.com/flash/homeli...ingmirrors.htm

Can those of you that have the homelink point out which model best resembles yours?

Ok, I got a homelink mirror with compass on eBay and installed it myself yesterday. Works like a charm. So, yes, you can install it after the fact. I ran the wire from the headliner to the driver side pillar down to the fusebox where I added two additional circuits to the battery and the ignition.

Probably took no more than an hour to get everything done.
