Impressive MPG

So I picked up my 08 Xs about 3 weeks ago and has since put on 300 miles. I was disappointed in the mpg of the vehicle for those 300 miles and got a little worried about how much I was going to have to spend on gas each year. I heard that the mpg got better after the first oil change so there was some hope.

Yesterday I decided to put some real miles on the car and took a 2 hour drive upstate for lunch. I put roughly 200 miles on the car and was surprised the mpg I got. When I filled the last 2 times the computer read i had 186 miles on a full tank. For the trip upstate I filled up and was on my way, when I got to my destination I checked the miles left and it read 268 which was a complete shocker as I've never seen it past 200. I drove back home and had half a tank of gas left. The computer read 176 miles left on the remaining gas. Basically I got 200 miles on half a tank which is great.

I think that's pretty damn good for the break in process. I was going 70-80 mph the whole way there and back. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the mpg now, if it does improve after my first oil change then I'm getting more mpg than my old 4 cylinder TSX.

You must be a really steady driver

I have the G35xS too, after a month and 1100 miles, I averaged 18mpg.
The number is not so impressive, since my other car (Mazda 6 V6) got 24mpg
for the same route and same driving style. On the Sticker it should only
2 mpg different between the two cars. I am hoping that this is due to the
G35 is not broke-in

On our last 1600 mile round trip to Vegas we got 26mpg on the highway, and this was going 80-85mph. It still baffles me how some get such poor mileage, or am I just extremely lucky??

I do keep my tires at 40psi and use cruise control, but even in our city driving (w/ a few showdowns w/ Mustang GTs, et al) we still get over 21.

This car does well on the highway - I get 24/25 on long trips. However, it does suck for city driving - I get 16/17 with just city driving.

wow thats impressive. On the drive down from northern virginia to central virginia i was avg 16.7MPG at 80MPH. I was suprised that i only had 1/4 tank left...lol In my accord I could go to NoVa and back down and still have over half a tank of gas. Either way I dont care about MPG because im enjoying this car too much!

After roughly 1,300 miles I get about 17 mpg, mainly city driving...about 270 miles before the computer reads "****" till empty.

I've driven 1200 miles in my 08 sedan so far. The first tank gave me about 16.5 mpg. Since then, I've been getting exactly 20 mpg. I guess that's not too bad, but I wish it was even higher. Oh well, I shouldn't be complaining when I have an engine that is a beast and dishes out 305 hp.

400 miles on a tank is pretty typical for me... I checked tonight, and with a bit of city driving this weekend this tank is averaging 23.5 mpg.

Typically though, 80% highway, ICC all the time.

Just the opposite here, mine has been increasing steadily. In fact, I filled up last night, I reset my MPG/MPH counter, and after about a mile, got on the freeway headed home, running about 70, when I exited the freeway, my counter said 26.9 MPG! I got just over 18 on my last tank, 2300 miles on the odo! Traffic will kill your mpg, I don't care what you drive!
