Door Handle Scratches

I did a search for this, but I couldn't find anything.

Has anyone noticed the scratches in the recess behind the door handles? My car is less than 3 months old and I already have a couple. Sence I am aware of this now, I know to be more careful about opening the door, but that doesn't help me on the passenger doors when I don't remember to make the passangers aware. I first noticed this because the loaner I was given had them. It was silver, but the recess was black from tons of scratches. Does anyone have any ideas to keep this from happening?

Thanks

Mike

I had these areas covered with clear bra material. Covering the door handle recesses and the trunk liftover area was the smartest move I made when I bought the car...Highly recommended.

I didn't think much of it until I saw the loaner car. The silver paint was so scratched that it had turned almost completly black behind the handle.

Scratches of any kind do drive me nuts though....

Well, you probably wouldn't notice them on an IP G, on darker colors you do. Mine came from the dealer with the clear material behind the handles. Nit Pickers, here???????????????

you can compound and polish them out.. in most cases they are only marks on the clearcoat and not through the paint itself.

I hate it but I figured there was nothing I could do about it. Clear bra is next for me too.

They are actually part of the XPEL pattern set. My installers cut everything out on the plotter then installed everything. However, some installers will charge extra to install film in the door handle pockets.

Even if they don't install them, ask for the cut parts because they will be trashed anyway. You can then install them yourself.

Not actually behind the door handles, but in the door handle pocket.

The only way to avoid scratches is to use a film or be a gentleman and open the door for the ladies!
