it's more like "a solution for which people are looking for faults." stop expecting too much out of things, or being dissapointed because it doesn't do everything you want.

 

"Doesn't do everything I want" is my whole point....I didn't want anything. Search the early model forum and I doubt you will find any post that reads "Gee, I wish Infiniti would do away with the ignition key". When it comes to technology I'm a firm believer in the KISS engineering principle. Keep It Simple Stupid. But, on the other hand, what could be easier than pushing a stupid button? With the aging baby boom I guess not having to twist an ignition key helps the arthritis set.

Sure - and unlike a key in that I'm not likely to lock it in the car, or leave it in so that when someone steals the car because it's running (why on earth would you do that??), they get the house key, office key etc.

... a key that you admit works exactly as it's intended to...

 

Hey, if this were a troll you guys are easy! I seriously thought my car had a problem when I walked a block away from it and it kept running. I'm still convinced that this is just a way for Nissan to run up the sticker price without any major benefit. Every G35 is now delivered with $400 worth of I-keys. I wonder how many folks would order I-key if it were a $400 option?

You're overlooking the major benefit of the i-key... It triggers the car to remember your mirror / seat / steering column positions. If you're in a multi-driver household that's the cat's meow!

 

Ask BMW. Comfort Access is a friggin $750 option here in Canada.

 

So how u know that the inteligent key did shut down the car and re started once you were nearby? :shrug

+1. Yep, BMWusa.com says it $500 here. ... I would purchase it as an option. I personally loved that Infiniti included it in the price of car. I also looked at BMW. I would have purchased the Comfort Access option. I love the convenience of it.

 

Can someone please confirm that this (the intelligent key) is part of the base product in the 2007? I can tell it is for the 2008 from the website, but after watching this:

they seem to imply it's part of the premium package only.

 

I was skeptical of the practicality of the I key when I first got the car. Now I can't imagine driving without it in the Infiniti.

Kinda like the TV remote........

 

The intelligent key came standard on all 07 G35 Sedans.
