Occasionally no volume from radio

The car is a 2008 sedan with Navi. Every once in a while when the car is started the navi turns on and appears to be working but there is no sound coming from the speakers. It doesn't matter what source the unit is on (CD, AM/FM, SAT, etc.).

The only 'fix' is to turn the car off and then restart it. Sometimes this fixes it, sometimes it doesn't. Has anyone else experianced anything similar or have any idea what the problem could be?

I remember reading a thread about this quite some time ago...I think they were having more problems than just volume though so not sure if its the same problem. They had to bring it back to the dealer and got something fixed.

Sorry...my memory is sketchy about it...

I've had a similar problem 2 or 3 times. I've never had to restart the car, just switch sources. I'm also fairly certain that it's only happened when I've turned the car off with the iPod playing......so I just chalked it up to the system not "seeing" the iPod right away when it's restarted. I'll pay more attention to what the settings are if it happens again.

Just volume being turned all the way down upon start up every so often. Not too much of an issue for me to even bring it up during my last service trip.

Soon as I see the 'audio source' showing on the screen with no sound, I would now go straight for the volume ****/switch.
