My dealer is having a lot of difficulty locating a 2008 Desert Platinum G35S with a rear spoiler.

He called today stating that he found one without a rear spoiler, but a dealer installed spoiler can be added. I hesitate to have a dealer tech drill into the rear trunk, but he insists that the rear spoiler is dealer-installed or port-installed option. (i.e. it is not installed at the factory)

Here's where the story gets interesting. The salesman claims that they use an outside contractor to install the rear spoilers, and they are not an OEM product. He claims 5 G35's in his lot have this "aftermarket" spoiler.

I've learned to never trust what a car salesman will say to make a sale.

Is the OEM rear spoiler that difficult to get?
Anyone get a dealer installed OEM spoiler?

I would wait for an OEM spoiler, the quality will always be better and the paint will match since they are painted in the same factories

 

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you but I think your instinct is correct. I have heard of many "port installed" items, and they always mean a third party installer (with non-oem part?). A dealer was trying to sell my friend a car with the leather interior "port installed". Turns out after some prying, he admitted that it was a local third party installer.

 

I just got my 04 DG Spoiler today.I bought it off ebay(seller i.d jaeeagle)it was $119 Painted and Shipped. I didnt install it yet lol dont have the money rite now. It got to my house in 3 days! Heres some pics
