G35 Sedan: Do you have to slam your trunk?

I took my 2008 G35 Journey to the dealer for some warranty service to take care of some rattles. They were very helpful and professional--impressive customer service. One of the problems is that I pretty much have to slam my trunk for it to close.

They said it was normal. Sprayed the hinge with a bit of silicone, which I had already tried.

Does your trunk need to be slammed, too?

Mostly, but gotten used to it.

Sometimes the tab from the cargo net get's caught between the lid and the trunk.

My trunk is hard to close but not have to be "slammed". I thought it was normal until I got a loaner and a rental, both closed easily.

Planned on getting this checked out next time I need to go in.

I believe my trunk closes with a normal amount of force...

No complaints...

Does anyone have a fix????

I came from a Bimmer 3 series and it closed easily. As does our Camry.

yes, it gets getting used to,
cargo net thing sometimes get in the way
at first i have to close it twice because i didn't want to use too much force to close, but it doesn't close so i have to close it a second time, haha
there's a handle on the inside of the trunk lid, pull down hard and let go, and let it close by itself, it doesn't slam as bad as you'd think

put a spoiler on it - the added weight slams the trunk on its own.

Use the grip inside the trunk to close. This means no finger prints on chrome. The grip makes it so you don't slam the trunk, give it a few shots. Your arm will get a feel for it! I remember reading this awhile ago, tried it out.. it was a perfect design.

Mine doesn't need to be slammed. I believe there are two plastic stand-offs. I'm not 100% sure of what they do, but they may provide maybe a small amount of adjustment?

I don't slam mine...I just grip the 'handle' on the inside right and pull down while quickly removing my hand and it closes pretty easy.

I have to slam the HOOD down. Does anyone have a hard time closing the hood?

you got that right. at first i thought it was hard to close and tried to justify it by it having shocks on it. But after a half year of ownership i noticed the handle. It closes effortlessly and minus chrome fingerprints!

no way, i set it into the safety lock and just gently push down on both "humps" to get each lock to latch on.
