Driver and Passenger Seat

Why does the driver seat have the oval cutout in the middle and the passenger seat does not?

My car is lke that too. I think its all to do with cost, its probably more expensive to have the set up on the drivers seat so they just did it on that seat alone. Thats why we have memory seats and lumbar support on the drivers seat only as well.

+1 Am guessing it has something to do with padding for the driver's seat - they're all like that though.

LOL... ok, if this is a ruse then I bit. But if it is a serious question (and one that has come up before)... its extra padding to lock the driver's legs in position during (ahem) "spirited" driving.

I was thinking something along those lines of keeping the drivers legs in position with the pedals, but I do like the well endowed answer!

Thanks everybody ~ Al

I think it's to protect against sweatyness. If your jewels start - a - dripping, and the leather gets faded, then that middle cut out should be easier to replace than the other ones.
lol.. i'm really not serious at all about this btw.

It's called a driver specific seat, something to do with support, it's been there in every G35, now of course, the Sport has completely different seats. It is still present on the Sport seat though.

J/K I do think it's for additional lateral support of your legs while cornering. I don't really notice it, but I've never tried to compare with the feeling in the passenger seat (only I'm allowed to aggressively corner in my G). My joke originated with my father seeing it and saying "What's that? A pecker heater?"
