I red-line my car ALL the time. Ask Terry.

Seriously, don't worry about it. The VQ35HR motors are pretty durable.

Ok..I'm really liking this car more and more...I've only owned one other Nissan product in my life and it was an 80's Datsun 210 wagon...baby blue..and gutless as crap..it only topped out at 80mph. This is definitely a different breed of animal!!!
I did the same thing when I first got the car. I wanted to play with the manumatic. I'm used to driving an auto so I forgot what mode I was in until I heard the engine revving high. ... Now when I want to use manual, I just use the paddles while still in D mode. Eventually it switches back to D if you're not using the paddles.

Don't worry about it. Actually when I picked up my G (it had 15 miles), I drove the hell of out it, up to 8000 rpm for first 3 gears from 5 mph rolling start, for 5 times, cuz I read somewhere in this forum via a link that a proper way to break engine in is basically drive the living hell of out. Then the next few thousand miles like the break in period. So far my car has 8000 miles and the engine is MUCH stronger as it breaks in compare to when it was new.

Rather than try to explain it, I'll just post a link to one of the better articles I've read in terms of engine break-in. It gets into the specifics of why a harder break-in period (in a methodical way...) really helps with the piston ring seal.

Here you go: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm
