Is there a REAL performance advantage of the 2nd Gen over a 1st Gen sedans?

Am I the only who thinks that Infiniti should be doing a G25 or G27 instead of worrying so much about a G37.
I mean, having a smaller motor that provides more mpg in the same car would provide an interest do some buyers, right?
I am not sure, just think it may be a good idea. (Lexus IS250, BMW 328)

I'd much rather have a G25 with 220 hp for a daily driver That's more than enough power to putz around...

If they can get that in the European G37 sedan with the 7spd auto, I think it'd be a pretty cool target market.
My biggest gripe about the G35 is it's too thirsty, and with gas just going up and up, I'd love to see serious thought given to efficiency, while still putting out 300+ hp in a out of the box performance vehicle.

Of course if the disparity between engines is greater such as 400HP vs 300HP can make up for alot on a straight track.

While everyone was ranting and raving and claiming that the GT-R is ungodly fast and breaks the laws of physics, it was humorous to see its quarter mile times. For example, while the GT-R has a ridiculously fast quarter mile time, its trap speed is the lowest in its class.
The GT-R attributes its low end power to its DSG, gearing, and its crazy efficient AWD system. Which is actually perfect for most tracks and the drag strip since you won't find yourself going 120+ mph for increased periods of time...if you did, the GT-R would quickly be looking at the taillights for the GT2 and the Z06 as they just leave the GT-R in their dust.

I had a g20 (p11) and ill tell you what.... that car drove like a luxury car...smooth....but the only down fall was the power....it had everything in its class when compared to but the power....
So i do believe they can bring a lower model back....dont you know beemer now has the 1 series??come on now.... I Say get back to some of the old roots and make performance afford....since now of course nissan has the money and time to invest (look at the gtr lol)

Before I got my 08, I test drove an 05. The 08 definately felt alot faster than the 05, but if you take a look at the numbers it backs up my feeling. The 05 is at 6.5 and high 14's on the 0-60 and quarter mile respectively. The 2nd gen is at 5.3 and high 13's on the 0-60 and quarter mile respectively.
