Yes - when you downshift the AT, the G will blip the throttle to match revs, so it's a smooth transition to the lower gear.

yea i did not understand until i drove it. it actually is really nice and smooth, bad part is it makes you want to drive really fast through some twisties. which isnt too bad besides gas mileage and legality.

Do you guys really find the manual mode useful? Maybe it's because my last three cars were manual, but I find the manual mode auto just a toy. Not too useful. It does help slow down a bit where I would downshift, and the rev match is smooth, but still, kinda not the full experience for me. I find myself just leaivng it in auto 99% of the time.

Without the feel of the clutch, just not the same.....

Absolutely! I just want to control what gear the car is in, and when it shifts; couldn't care less if there's a clutch involved or not. I've driven a 6MT coupe and enjoyed it, but still prefer the paddles.

Question 1: "Is the manual mode useful?"

Yes. I use it when passing people, doing a uturn, driving agressively, or any other time I need/want to hold a gear out longer.

Question 2: "Are rev matching downshifts cool?"

Yes and no. It's cool that the tranny rev matches. The part I don't like about our downshifts are the "double downshifts." When you floor the car then it downshifts once, then a second time about 1/2 a second later.

In every other auto I've had, it'd downshift to the lowest gear possible instantly. None of this double downshift crap.
