window tinting...different percentages on rear and sides?

Ok so I have tinted my windows with 3m color stable with 15% all the way around except the front windshield. I am about to get the rear windshield re-tinted and I am thinking about doing it 5%. The reason why is because I think it would let less light in through the back, thus making the side windows look darker then 15%, without having to re-tint the side windows. Does anyone have this setup already, if so do you have pics? also do you like it, does it really make the sides look darker? anything would help thanks!

i have 15% on all 4 doors and 5% on the rear glass/front strip

I would recommend it, it doesn't allow people to look in from the back but still gives you 4 doors with decent amount of tint

I've got 5% all the way around but nothing on the windshield. I can see out of my back window at night. The reverse lights do a good enough job to navigate. It helps to also have a streetlight or other light source but its not that bad with just the reverse lights. He'll also still have his side mirrors to use.

Yeah, because I like to wear my sunglasses at night:-) I know there is some visible light, but common sense tells us that it's dramatically limited.

OP, you will achieve your goal by darker tinting on the rear window. The rear side doors will look a bit darker than the front, but that would happen anyway.

My old car had 5% tint in the rear, I would have to stick my head out of the window to back out.

I have 35% all the way around now...I could've gone 5% in the rear since I have a backup camera now but I figured 35% would suffice.

Just wondering, how does the auto dim rearview mirror act?
Since the rear window is so dark, I would imagine that the mirrow won't dim itself.

I wanted to get the tint done, but i like the auto dim mirror so much, so i didn't. hehe..

I've got 10% tint on my back window and the self dim mirror works fine still.

IF they take off your rear window tint you're going to lose your defroster. Just have them put another layer on it.
