The Truths about Car: G35X review

It could possibly be the throttle update. I had 08 loaner g35x and the two cars felt totally different in terms of acceleration. While the 08 was smoother and required less practice, it wasn't as fast unless you depressed the gas more. I've never driven a journey or sport though so I can't compare it to the X.

I have an 08 G35X, of course the X is going to feel more sluggish and slower than the RWD, thats the trade off. Now, real world, when I am on the road I have taken all the corners I wanted to take at speeds higher than any of the cars I have previously owned and I have smoked so many cars out there its not even funny. The other day some dude with a truck was taking corners at high speeds, +60 mph so I think this business of taking corners at high speeds is overrated. I compare my car to the real world situation, not the G35 RWD or the 335i. Those cars will outperform me but the G35X is not the GTR, I expect to be outperformed by someone.
Thats just my 2 cents, I think the article is pointless as it states the obvious.

I had the same experience...my 07 feels faster (both 35x's)

I completely disagree with this review. I extensively test drove both the G35S and the G35X before deciding on the X, and the steering felt almost identical, while the power difference was minimal. Read these:
http://www.caranddriver.com/shortroa...-g35x-awd.html
http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dl...0815/1005/FREE
The difference between the two is minimal in performance despite the 150lb weight difference, and of all the sports sedan manufacturers out there, Nissan/Infiniti does pretty much the best job of making their AWD car feel like a RWD most of the time, with the least amount of penalty. In the Car and Driver test, I'll quote:
"But the G35X recorded an identical number on the skidpad, where we measure maximum grip - 0.87g- even though the AWD car is equipped with Goodyear Eagle RS-A all season tires, and the manual model wore Bridgestone Potenza performance rubber"
My experience tends to correlate with that. Perhaps the '08's programming made the difference, but it could have also just been a bad apple or something.

LOL!!! Let me quote from the article:
So, the G35X is .3 seconds (.3!!!) slower to 60mph...and the reviewer says that the car feels "sluggish" compared to the RWD version...
Sorry, but numbers don't lie; a .3 second difference to 60 mph is not sluggish.
This is where the review becomes "subjective" rather than "objective".
Therefore, it takes 5.9 seconds to hit 60 mph; the rear wheel drive makes the same sprint in 5.6 seconds.

It also reminds me how spoilt we've all become. 10 years ago a 0-60 time of 5.9 seconds was (E36) M3 and Porsche Boxster (first model to come out) territory - hardly sluggish. If you look at the 5.4 secs that Car and Driver got for the G35x (and by the way, I've personally matched that time with mine using one of those testing units I borrowed from a friend - although the conditions were not scientifically sound - ie. it was on a public road that looked straight, but I didn't exactly measure the incline ), that's around the same as the Audi S4 V8 of 5 years ago...
Honestly, I hear people talking about hoping that the 330hp engine from the G37 makes it into the G35, and I hope so too, but only because of the fuel economy improvements. I've got more than enough performance. I guess I just take exception in the article to his comments about the sluggishness, the steering, and the AWD not being a good implementation of AWD. The ATTESA AWD system is the same one that is used in the GT-R... it's not exactly a bad AWD system - and most reviewers have said that it's better than it's competitors including BMW's xDrive. This car feels like a RWD in most daily driver conditions.
Anyway, like you said - it's subjective, and everyone has a right to their own opinion. The main thing is that you're happy with what you drive. I for one have never been happier with a car than this one, and I've owned or leased:
'06 BMW 330i
'04 Audi TT (225hp) quatro
'02 Subaru Impreza WRX
'02 BMW M3 convertible
'98 BMW 328i

The numbers lie if it's a small sample or all things aren't equal. Most pubs have the X as fast as RWD. Personally, I ran 13.859 in the 1/4 mile in my stock 07 x. Not that sluggish....

The articles above will show you these cars are pretty close, look at the 5-60 time, the X is faster by .1 seconds. My assumption is on the Interstate, both cars will go toe for toe.
