I wasn't going to get the Nav package but at the time the only car they had I wanted had it. So I splurged and I am glad I did. The nav is nice to have but the back up camera I use every time I get in the car. I could not imagine not having it now. The nav is also nice when you in a unfamiliar area and you want to find a restaurant or store.

Tell me more... Sounds nice.

I would've definitely gotten the nav package if I didn't already have my Dell Axim PDA/gps receiver/iGuidance nav software combo. (4 years old, works fine, portable. If you already have a smart phone or PDA that runs Windows Mobile, you can get a GPS receiver/nav sofware bundle for $100-$150. Granted there are $100-$150 portable nav systems out there, but I don't think the software/interface is that great.)

If you get your car near invoice then price is $1,853.
I'd say it is well worth the money IMO. Theft prevention is easier with built-in as well.

there is a member on the forums who purchased a Garmin GVN 52, which is a little black box that can connect directly to the A/V inputs under the armrest. Tap into a power source and presto, you're navigating. Here is the link for the do-it-yourself the guy wrote up...very descriptive and helpful. I like the remote control too...Originally Posted by DJAnyStyle

And if you are an Ipod user, all you need is a multiple port A/V switch to go from navi to ipod. Or you can do what the guy did and get a Ipod charger/connector.
This is a very $$$ friendly alternative to the OEM navigation.

I don't regret getting any packages because with the saved money I have been able to buy an awesome JL sound system (about to go in once I dynamat), ipod, spoiler, and all these other wonderful parts to further distinguish my car from the pack. I'm not tryin to start any flame wars here, but I just don't see it.
To each their own. I wouldn't spend the money on the things you did and I wouldn't want to have to install things in the car, etc. I prefer the stock look of the interior. It's just a personal choice factor there.Originally Posted by ugaexploder
I just don't see how 2150 + tax + interest you're paying over time is worth the convenience of backup camera and navi. Especially if you know you can buy a remote-mount GPS system for 200 dollars. Totally and completely with you 100% on that one. Nothing beats the stock look, tacking crap all over the inside of the car looks... riceyOriginally Posted by trey's wife

And I realize that lots of people here are ******* on the Music Box option but frankly I LOVE it and don't ever want to be without it. I have an MP3 player but it won't hold all of my CD's by any means and I absolutely LOVE having all of them in the car without having any of them actually IN the car.

Well....I do not like the suction...wires hanging and all the mess to carry along with...the stock nav is the best.....I wanted the NAV and all the Tech toys since the beginning....I absolutely like the Music box feature..playing the songs by your mood...its just wonderful....the G would be complete only with all the these tech toys.....this is what I would think....well my $.02

I really dont understand why you wouldnt get the factory navigation based upon resell alone. Used cars with navi are going for (atleast) 2k more than the same car w/o navi. It has been said on this board many times before, but the least depreciating option on a car is factory navi.

I dunno how many times I must say this, but there is an alternative that DOES NOT REQUIRE SUCTION CUPSOriginally Posted by coolguy8157

I don't know where you're getting your numbers from, but the value of a car has more to do than whether or not it has navigation. You're just making numbers up...and personally I don't think I will resell my car in the next 4 years. In five years, your navigation system will NOT make the value of your car 2k more than one without it. Try 500 at best. Go look for a 2003 M3 with nav and without, there isn't a 2000 difference. Also, most people that buy this car do not pay cash for the whole car at once...most finance. When you do that, the price of the navi goes up too, so it's really not 2,150...you have to take into consideration taxes and interest...didn't we learn this in economics?

lol,
the garmin GVN is a little black box that can go anywhere, all that is needed are the wires to go plug into the aux lines in the armrest, integrates directly with the OEM screen, NO SUCTION CUPS, and no additional screens/monitors/displays
