Is the Nav system in a 08 G35x worth the extra $$

FYI, the interest expense for the NAV package at 2.9% is $140, based upon invoice. Since the cars are selling at invoice right now, that is the number I used in the calculation.
I will be buying in the next month or so and plan on getting the Nav. I thought alot about it and may still change my mind.
I do alot of travelling but normally to areas I am somewhat familiar with, back and forth from Indy to Cincinnati once or twice a week.
What is making me leans towards the OEM is the look of having it integrated, the back up camera and the music box.
I currently have a Sirius receiver that plugs into the head unit and into the power outlet. I am sick of having wires hanging. That eliminates the portable units.
I realize there is the black box route. What I do not like about that is having to use the remote to input info. It is probably very easy, it's just not for me.
So, if we assume that $500 of the $1850 of the cost will be recouped when you sell it, and assuming you get 2.9% and hold the car till paid off, the cost is closer to $1450. ($1850-$500=$1350+$100 interest) If I buy an iPod for $250 and the black box for $300, I am now looking at a difference of $900. If I went with a more expensive portable GPS, let's say $500, the cost now drops to $700 and I have the back up camera.
Just my opinion. There is no right or wrong answer to this question.

I've had a navi in my 04 for nearly 5 years now, and the main downer for it is why I just bought an inexpensive Garmin.
I'm vacationing in just over a week, and with gas prices, it is too far to drive. So I'm renting. The builtin one doesn't work with rental cars too well
Cutting about 3000 miles from my trip is worth flying.

The only thing I dont understand is how much Infiniti is praising the audio system in our cars, but stuck us with sub standard encoding to the HD.
132Kbps is a freaking joke IMO.

Since everyone is doing calculations heres mine. I love the back up camera as I said before and like the nav being part of the car. I drive my car almost every day of the year and plan on keeping for at least 5 years so... at a $1 day 365 days X 5years = $1826 which is about the cost of the nav package. So I have no problem paying a dollar a day for the use of both. Just my 2 cents worth.

Thank you winste for taking the time to put a calculation together that is informative. For what amounts to around 1 car payment, or as Kid4now said, it amounts to about $1.00 a day over 5 years to have the option. It's well worth it.
Question: How many people who purchased the nav option and now regret it? I bet you'd be hard pressed to find a single person. Yet, I know two others who purchased their G after me and both skipped the Nav and would like to have gotten it... I bet there's a lot more people that regret not getting it on these forums.

It's a different perspective and, in my case, your way is overkill. I realize it isn't for you, but for me, it is. There is a reasonable chance it is for others as well - just as it is a reasonable chance there are others who would prefer your way.

In five years, your navigation system will NOT make the value of your car 2k more than one without it. Try 500 at best. Go look for a 2003 M3 with nav and without, there isn't a 2000 difference.
Also, most people that buy this car do not pay cash for the whole car at once...most finance. When you do that, the price of the navi goes up too, so it's really not 2,150...you have to take into consideration taxes and interest...didn't we learn this in economics?

Of course, the nav is not going to hold its msrp value over 5 years, but it will depreciate less than the rest of the car around it...Spend some time on Cars, Autotrader, edmunds ect and tell me that I'm wrong...
