Canadian 2009 G37 sedan

Hello everyone! I have noticed that next year in USA, G37 sedan will replace the current G35 sedan. I am wondering if the G37 sedan will also goes to Canadian market? If so, when is the actual month that the G37 sedan will be released here? Has anyone got the Canadian G37 sedan specs yet? I need to decide weather to wait for the G37 sedan or go with the G35 now! And also has anyone drove her/his G37(RWD) or G35 (RWD) in the snow yet? How much difference is there between AWD and RWD? And also is infiniti really going to offer AWD in G37 next year? Thank you very much!

I would think that a RWD car would be fine in the snow with a dedicated set of winter tires. At least that's what I'm telling myself since I will be moving to upstate NY and will actually have to deal with winter again shortly... If you look around on the boards you'll find that there are quite a few members in snowy areas with RWD G's.

That first clip above probably did not have winter tires, hence the spinning.

Well the X in the 3rd clip did not have either. They were worn out all season tires.

I would testdrive both in the snow and make a decision. I know that's what I did.

Definitely NOT an accurate comparison between the two. That G35C has performance tires on it, no wonder it wasn't going anywhere. Slap some dedicated winter tires on a G35 and you'll have no issues. I'd rather have my G35S with my Blizzaks than a G35X with all season tires.

I agree, the videos are not a perfect representation but the OP asked "How much difference is there between AWD and RWD".
Put the same tires on any two similar AW/RWD G35s and there is no competition between acceleration and control in snow and ice.

Completely agree the AWD will outperform the RWD assuming the same tires. Unfortunately, the vast majority of G35x owners from what I have seen don't replace their AS tires with winter tires because they think they are fine just because they have AWD.

Actually Shane, I have noticed the majority of Canadian X owners do put dedicated snows on their cars.
I think our American friends with X's tend to resist dedicated winters and feel good with just All Seasons.

Soon all Canadians need to have dedicated winter tires on the cars. Will be controlled by the gov.

I have to disagree with the RWD with winter tire better then AWD with all season tires. Reason is simple. There are so many different all season tires. Ultra high performance all season tire is more of a good for summer and if it gets wet then still ok but not good for winter. However some of the normal all season tires are really good in winter and it is ok in summer time.

So if you talking about the ultrahigh performance tire sure you are right but in any other case I'll take all season tires with AWD over the RWD with winter tires.

Just my .02

You are missing one very important fact.

The rwd with dedicated winters will walk all over you with your awd with All Seasons in the braking department on snow and ice.

I see that alot around here. idiots in their awd SUVs driving like idiots on icy/snowy surfaces being surprised when they find that their 4000+lb beast takes a hell of alot longer to stop than my RWD G.

+100000000000. Why people don't understand that is beyond me.

Shane,

Not to thread-jack, but what Blizzaks are you running? I have a set of OEM 17's from an '07 Journey that I will be mounting winter tires on this year since I will be moving back up north.

The thread got jacked long before you posted. The OP never asked for any information about tires. One question he asked is "how much difference is there between AWD and RWD"?
