My car totaled? :(

Unfortunately this past Monday 6/23/08 I was in a terrible car accident but luckily walked away from the scene without even a scratch. The short story involves another car, a curb, a chain linked fence and a shed house. Lets just say each one of the above won and I lost.

Anywhooos, I just wanted to ask everyones opinion on whether they think the car is totaled or not. The auto body guy basically said "you can tell your insurance company its totaled". But as we all know, its not that easy. The adjuster from the insurance company is going to come out and look at it sometime next week.

I have no patience in these issues so I took the auto body guys word for it and put a hold on a 2008 IP G35xS in the meantime. So i'm gonna miss my 07 baby but if everything works out, I should have a new and improved baby in no time. So take a look at the pictures and see what you guys think...

Wow, great that you walked away.

Did the airbags go off? It looks like they did and I would assume they did. Those are a ton to replace. Also looks like you might have a bent frame.

I'm no expert at all but I would think if the bags went off and the frame is bent, it's probably gone.

Yea I guess I should have mentioned that. The drivers front and side curtain airbags went off. In addition, when I went through the chain linked fence, a metal rod was lodged underneath the car. The tow people had a lot of difficulty getting the car on the truck bed as the metal rod would not budge. They finally had to saw off the metal rod but they sure as hell tried very hard with it still lodged under. So my guess is, there might be considerable damage to the undercarriage also.

I'd guess frame damage, engine/tranny damage, airbags are gone - totaled. Which should be a good thing? Would hate to drive that after it's repaired.

Doesn't the insurance company own it when they pay you?
