what i've actaully found effective on driving the new G is put your foot more up on the pedal. I found that way you can control the throttle ALOT easier and i found A LITTLE more throttle response as well. Im using 91 octane, so dealership says i have too, and im getting about 270+ miles to a tank!! thats basically 15-16 mpg...even though i push my car sometimes. Also since your running AWD on 90+ octane your eating gas up alot. try to slow down abit ^_^

IMO there is no way your fuel consumption should be as bad as you are getting, especially if you are making a conscious effort to improve your driving habits to improve it.
…my example - I filled up today with Sunoco 94, as usual, for a day trip to Toronto and back. My round trip was 275km and most of it was driven at 125km/hr (78mph) and my car consumed 2/5 of a tank which I estimate to be about 30L. This translates into 10.9L/100km (US21.5mpg, Imp26mpg). For the record, my LCD display also indicated 11L/100km at the end of today’s trip as well.
In the past few months I have taken a couple longer highway trips where I drove much slower (avg. 100km/h) and was able to get very near 700km per tank before re-filling. That’s around 28mpg.
Like someone mentioned earlier, log all your gas mileage and take it to the dealer. You have to calmly convince the service manager that something is wrong in the rate at which your G is burning fuel.
Be polite and express your concerns again. Call Infiniti USA or Can. or wherever you are.

I have the same problem I get around 200-250 miles to the tank(I rarely let it fall below 1/4 tank and I drive 80% city. my crappy mileage probably have to do with the rims

I average 14MPG consistently. More than 80% of my driving is city, and I don't drive in the most fuel efficient of matters.

However, when I have taken long road-trips where I average in the mid-20s.

The actual fuel gauge on your car is not linear i.e. each 1/4 tank on the gauge is not equal. I was just below half and my car took 10.8 gallons, yet when it is below E about 1/2 less than when I got gas today is only takes 18. I believe your mileage is user error either in math, or you're very heavy footed.

take it to a dealer. I have a brand new 08 xs that just hit 1k miles, I do not shift below 4k rpm unless i am forced to, and I get 280-300miles per tank @ 100% city.

My gauge is divided into tenths, not eighths or quarters.

i got 9200 on my car now, i get about 14 MPG with 60%city 40% HWY. for past month i've been doing about 90% city and it has fallen down to like 11 MPG. i'm sitting on half tank left and only 95 miles since full. never gotten more then 230 miles on a tank.

i just gave up after about 2K miles into the car. dealership checked the car 2 times, nothing was found, cause nothing was done except for checking codes.

i do enjoy sprinted driving, but to get 200 miles per tank is crazy. the only option i have left is try to reset the ECU and drive like a granny for 80 miles. but tell the truth, i've given up on the fuel thing.

Im on the same boat you are. I get about 200 or less miles to my full tank and I drive 100% city (going from stop light to stop light and going up hills and own hills). It totally sucks. Is something something I should do? I do not drive it hard all the time either.

/sigh... I wish I could @least average 19 or so but im getting 14.1 right now. bleh...

I think "city" is very very relative though.

Sitting in bumper to bumper traffic every day isn't "city."

"Highway" is relative too.

There's a HUGE difference in fuel economy comparing 65 mph to 90 in this car.

California - OCT 91

My trip computer reads about 301 miles to the tank every fillup. Is that right? Cause I am sure not getting that.

You might make it 301 miles, before you run out of gas. Probably not before you fill up though.
