I only get 200 miles per tank...

After reading the mileage that others get from their G35 here, i'm beginning to feel ripped off..

I bought my brand new 2008 G35X with premium and nav package, 9 months ago. And since then my meter reads between 16-17L/100 km. I only get 200-250miles per full tank. I've always got gas with 90+ octane.

Most of the driving is in the city. I'll say 80% city, and 20% highways.

Is this something i have to live with????

Since you're doing 80% city driving... you're most likely have to live with it. Also the fact that you have a X doesn't really help either.

I have been heavy footed every since I bought my car and at some point of the ownership, I only got around 11~12MPG... lol

Just recently, I have been driving kinda conservatively and I've been getting around 18~19MPH and that's because I drove on hwy a lot and driving around 70MPH on it. Also shifting between 2000~3000RPM with 60~70% of throttle seemed to help a lot as well.

But yeah, G is not a fuel efficient vehicle... but it provides a heck a lot of entertainment.

Hmmm, thats weird. I know you have an X but it shouldn't be that bad.

I do about 80% city driving (at least) and I can get around 320 miles per tank of gas.

Try to reset the ECU and drive like a grandma for a few hundred miles so the ECU can remember the "new" driving style... that might help too...

During my first service, i asked Infiniti guys to check out why the milleage is so low, and they said, cars from US are little different than in Canada (I bought mine from US). I was offered a 07 G35x curtosy car and even on that the mileage was like 13L/100 km, which is better than on mine.

Is there something i should get checked from a mechanic or something? Rising fuel prices togeter with low mileage really makes me wanna sell off the car. Not that i can't afford the gas prices or anything, but i feel ripped off due to the low mileage.

That is kind of low. Maybe your driving habbits are not helping you??? I just got 371 miles out of my tank this week. That is with half of its mileage coming from city driving. I usually do 300-320 miles, but I'm a heavy footer.

Your fuel economy seems a bit worse than the norm.
I do 90% of my driving in the city. I drive fairly conservative.
I can easily get 450km (280mi) on a tank and I have always used nothing but Sunoco 94.
When I have driven > than 90% hwy, I did get close to 700km (435mi) on a tank.
Most of us know the G is not great as far as fuel consumption goes but I am still amazed at the difference in fuel economy between city and hwy driving.

Check out the thread below from Colin. I have personally tested it and confirmed working.

Altera - Easiest way to gauge is simply be mindful of how hard or soft you accelerate. I notice a HUGE difference in MPG if I'm more agressive from a stand still (14-17 MPG). However, knowing that, and actually paying attention to how I'm driving has now increased my MPG to an average of 23.5; highest being 25.6 MPG. For work I drive approximately 60 miles roundtrip (Mon - Fri). After work, she's usually parked in the garage. Since my wife works relatively local, we use her car to compensate.

All in all, I've average 370 - 390 on a FULL tank; using 93 octane. Out of the 370 - 390, no more than 300 (maximum) is for highway driving. There should be no reason why you can't get in the high teens.

In short, be mindful of how hard you accelerate. Otherwise, enjoy you luxary sport gas guzlar of a car! : )

I do drive it rough. No doubt. I'm 24 and like to drive cars fast and accelerate them quickly. But i've also tried going easy several times with little effect on gas and mileage.

I like Blueslates idea of reseting the ECU and going easy on the pedal. Will give that a try.
