Unlock Trunk with no key present?

I find this really annoying on my '08.

Car off. Unlocked. Key FOB in my pocket. When i stand behind the trunk and push the button on the trunk lid, it opens, no problem.

Car off. Unlocked. Key FOB not on me. When i stand behind the trunk and push the button on the trunk lid, it DOES NOT open. I then have to open the unlocked driver's door and push the truck release button by the steering wheel.

1. Isn't there a way, when the car is unlocked and the key FOB is not on you to open the trunk while your standing at the trunk? My former beamer could.

2. Also can you turn off the beep it does several times every time the trunk opens?

i think they made it that way so no one else could open your trunk while you're in the car.

eg... just parked the car and gather your stuff before exit the vehicle. then a 16 year old punk comes by, presses the button and throws a stink bomb in the trunk, which then results in you chasing after him, beating him senseless and going to prison.

I agree with you on all the beeps and the annoyance of not being able to open the trunk without the FOB. But I'm a former BMW owner as well so I'm still getting used to the quirks of owning my first (probably last) Asian car.

I think for this one, if you hold the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for about 10 second or a parking light flash confirmation. This will disable the beeps, but note that this disables every other beeps as well.

Locking and unlocking your car will only flash the parking lights and not give you an audible signal.

since you DONT need to insert a key to start the car, why would you take the key fob out of your pocket and leave it in the car?

the key fob was meant to be kept in your pocket at all times, thus you can open the trunk anytime you want.

If this sets you off on "Asian" cars, good riddance.

+1... on a side note, I put the key fob in the slot once just for kicks. Due to having the fob in pocket most of the time, I got out of the car out of habit and totally forgot to take the fob with me. I tried to unlock the door with the button on the door handle and the car beeps at me. A split second later I realized I left the key fob inside and the car wasn't letting me lock the door because it knew the fob was inside. Good work Infiniti.

So would you want ANYONE to be able to press the button on the trunk lid and open your trunk?????? Why in the world would you want the trunk lid to be able to be opened WITHOUT the i-key?

I'm pretty sure (but not positive) that in order to disable this all you have to do is go into the glove compartment and hit the trunk button to off (I'm pretty sure the G has the feature - i know the M does and that is the location of the button) so that when the car is unlocked you can open the trunk without the key.

No, the switch prevents you from opening the trunk with the ikey, its the valet feature.

Put the ikey in your pocket and leave it there. What is so difficult?

Doesn't sound safe to me. Are you saying you'd want the trunk unlocked whenever the doors are unlocked?

What about the rest of the doors, do you want them all unlocked when only the driver's door is unlocked?
