Why is the car beeping?
I've had that problem, too. Done everything right -- turned off ignition, lights, etc., and before I even open the door, the damn thing's beeping. (It's manual xmission, so no "P" issue.) The problem is that it's training me to ignore the reminders, so that the only thing I pay attention to is the solid beeeeep when the headlights are on. It's a real, albeit small, annoyance.
i spoke with my service writer about it and he said that it is a common complaint. He said that since you still have the key on you it want you to know the door is open. "But it is intermittent" I said???? Crickets!!!!
There is no way to disable this?
When I drive by myself, I normally park, jump out, close and lock the door. No problem.
When there is somebody else with me, like if I'm on a date, or driving coworkers to lunch, I park, jump out, close and lock the door... and get the beep. Because one of the 4 doors isn't quite shut.
Normally, somebody apologizes for what they figure is some sort of alarm they set off. And I'm like 'don't worry about it, my car doesn't let me lock the door with the door open.'
Another scenario where I'd like to lock the car door with the door open - when I'm getting something heavy out of the back seat. Sometimes with my old car I'd open the back door, lock the car, load up my arms and then kick the door shut. Cant' do that with the G. Annoying!
I mean, how many times has anyone ever accidentally locked their keys in the back seat? I wish there were an 'override.'
