With 47k miles on an automatic trans it is time to change the trans fluid and filter (there is no such thing as life time trans fluid). These parts do fail after a period of time, if they are replacing the part under warranty, you are good to go.

From your description the dealers attitude needs an adjustment. Talk to his/her boss, but do not go in with an attitude yourself, it will only make bad matters worse. If you go in first thing in the morning consider a dozen or so donuts and give them to the service manager for his staff. I'll bet his attitude will change quickly.

Let us know what happens.

same thing happened to me, although it was when i had my paddle shifters installed which I did myself, took it to the dealer and they replaced it under warranty the first time but the second time they noticed my 08 G Sedan wasnt a Sport model which comes stock with paddle shifters.

I wrote a long post about it a while ago. I wound up taking the paddles off and I paid for the shifter unit the second time because Infiniti techs were being diks, it was expensive, I only had 18k miles on the car when it started happening. I took video of it happening I was so shocked. There has to be a faulty shifter assembly unit or some sort of wiring failure, the Infiniti techs kept telling me the sending unit burnt out. There is a white box that is attached to the shifter unit, there is a part in there that burns out.

Its def a warranty issue. I use my DS now probably everyday. I cant wait for it to break again without the paddle shifters on, I'd like it to happen so I can get a refund or credit.

I'm curious as to what happens with your issue. Keep us updated.

just got mine fixed this saturday under warranty. at first they tried to say they couldnt recreate the problem so i went out with the tech and showed him over and over till he couldnt refuse it. they replaced the entire shifter assembly. only thing is now im scared to switch my **** to an M **** and modify the shifter to lower the **** for fear that theyll blame it on that if it ever happens again
