I know what your talking about, a mechanic slid behind the wheel of my wife's
Vet with a screw driver in his hand leaving a major scratch on the bottom of
the wheel. For some reason she didn't notice it until I drove it a month later
which was too late to complain. I spend a few minutes every few months
using black dye and then soaking the wheel with leather treatment....hides it.

Mine has a few scratches on it. I don't wear anything on my right hand/arm. 
LOL, I know how it feels, I had that happen in my old car except it was lipstick. Luckily mine was on the inside of the visor.
In the G I tell girls, "If you really really need to put on make-up in the car you better make sure all of it goes on your face and not the car."
Might be an a-hole thing to say but it sure does work.

mine suffered a mysterious scratch last year, i think a valet did it because i don't wear rings. it's a deep, long gouge. annoys the sh*t out of me every time i get in the car. two things:
1) people keep saying that the **** trim is aluminum, but i'm almost positive that it's plastic. are you sure it's aluminum? i don't think it is because it always stays warm whereas aluminum stays cool. and if you tap the trim, it sounds dull like plastic, not a 'ting' sound like aluminum would produce.
2) did anyone ever answer how much a replacement **** would cost? i wonder if you can replace just the trim for cheaper?
