Simply put, the G35x's AWD is not a performance oriented AWD; it is there for convenience and safety.

If it was a performance oriented AWD, there would be some LSDs involved.

Apparently they thought it needed to be fat as well as ugly.

Right you are professor! We can make spurious arguments all day long.

I'll call the folks at Ferrari and let them know that if they want a heavier, slower, uglier F430 Scuderia they can copy the GTR.

Meanwhile, you call the folks over at F1 and let them know their formula is all wrong. I'm sure that by next season, all the cars will be sporting a transfer case and another 1,000 pounds of assorted "technology".

The GTR, Audi R8, and Lambo's are designed to make Superschmuck feel like Superman. No skills required. Just stomp n go. Playboy pimpmobiles.

I would not dirty my hands

That's funny. Why would you compare that way? It is like prius vs porshe.

C'mon you can do better then that.

tg
Yes, and I hope you can too. You still seem to be misunderstanding.

The entire point was that I would not beat an AWD car because of my mystical driving skill but because 95% of all owners rely on AWD and totally neglect the role that tires play. Not me. I have seen it over and over again. Ridiculously overconfident drivers relying on AWD systems to make them invincible while riding around on half worn OEM all season tires in snow.

That was the point! To make people aware of the role tires play.

And I'll say it again. If you head out into a storm with worn all season tires on your G35X (or Hummer) I can be pretty sure to embarrass you in a car equipped with a brand new set of Blizzaks and RWD.

Now that is a good point. I like that. I totally agree with it. That's why I never said the x is a performance car. All I said is the X is as fast as the S.

I do have one question about this tho.

In your opinion the S is a performance car or a grocery getter like my X?

The S is a sporty luxury sedan with a tad more sport thrown in.

I see it this way. If the Z/G was a REAL sports car, then it would have a REAL sports car LSD, not a 'daily driver friendly' VLSD.

So that is just another grocery getter too. Well some of the 350 do not even have it.

A real (gear/clutch) type LSD is not available with the 350z. Even Miatas offer a gear type LSD.

That is why Spec Miata exists, but not Spec Z.

All race-prepped Z's will be using an aftermarket LSD, and for every race-prepped Z out there, there are probably 10+ race-prepped miatas out there.

So we can call the 350Z as a small 2 seater grocery getter too.

Recently one of the Canadian magazine put tru a test some of the competitors in this entry luxury segment. It had the 335XI G35x C lass 4 motion and the Quatro. " performance" wise the g35X did better then any of the Europians. 0-60 the g35x was .01 second behind the 335XI and 80-120 it was beating the 335XI by .15 seconds. It was beating the 335XI in slalom with traction/stability controll activated by .5 seconds and without them by 1.5 seconds.

Just that data tells you how well the Attesa works with or without the VDC. Also the X was able to take on the 335XI. We know how the S vs 335I ended .3 seconds behind. Lets put it this way. Where the S failed to take on the 335 the X made it up for it.

Thanks to the X now we are 1:1 infinitiG vs Bmw 335

Attesa and VDC do NOT work together in the G. They do in the 2nd gen FX and EX.

VDC and ATTESA are completey independantly functioning on the G (1st and 2nd gen)

Yes we can... I was actually VERY disappointed that the NISMO Z didn't have an upgraded LSD

hmmm, i have run with Mitsubishi evo VIII's at B.I.R. and beaten more than a few newer GTO's WRX's ( not sti's) on the autocross courses. I'd say the X is very sporty!! coming from an 04 Audi S4 ( slightly smaler car, heavier, and 50/50 torque split) The G is a RWD based AWD car. All the G needs is alittle tighter shock valving, and the X's need to come lower from the factory....

I've read almost this entire thread and have not seen any talk about 6MT RWD vs. 5AT AWD. My last two cars were a 04 STi (295 whp) and a 92 Plymouth Laser AWD (350 whp). I love the feel of AWD, but I also love banging threw gears. Unfortunately Infiniti decided to snub people like myself. So here is my quandary. Which can I handle. At the moment I'm rolling 05 RWD Chevy Colorado. So far I've only had one "off" at 50 mph on I-480 (like a dumbass, drunk) during about the worst storm the Cleveland area saw last yr. This was on a set of low pro 1/2 treads. So with all this being said, which is the better route. I know the 5AT has a "slap shift" mode, but I've always found that to be comparitive to making out with your sister (yeah, you're making out w/ someone, but dude....thats your sister...and she's fat). TIA...Ryan
