Negotiating Pricing on '09 G37 Sedan

I am really interested in buying a new sedan. I need an AWD pretty much fully loaded car. I live in Salt Lake City, UT and we only have 1 Infiniti dealership here so negotiating with them is no that easy. Anyone have any suggestions? I am even willing to go out of state if need be to find a decent deal. I mentioned to the local dealer about paying a certain amount over dealer invoice and was pretty much shot down. I told them I am even ready to order.

I've been talking to this dealer for a year now because I was looking at buying a G35 sedan. My current car lease is up so now I am ready to buy. They told me they won't even work a $500 over dealer invoice on and '08sedan. Anyone have suggestions or know of dealers willing to work deals near invoice? Please help. Thanks.

Hard to believe they won't budge at all on the price, especially since the economy is hurting and they probably aren't selling a lot of cars this year.

G35x

I work for an infiniti dealer in southern california...we dont have the 09 G37 sedans yet and i would speculate that there wont be any "near invoice" deals on them until the 08s are pretty much gone..

we have a couple 08 G35x (AWD) in stock now..i think that i could get you one of them for invoice plus 500..i can verify this if you like..send me a PM

Mike, aren't they selling the 08s under invoice these days?

I've heard they're selling the G37s under invoice price.... is that true?

There are some pretty good incentives on the 08's right now so you should be able to get an 08 at or below invoice. At the end of the day it's all a matter of supply and demand and how badly the dealer wants to get the car off of the lot to avoid paying interest.

As of August, G sedan sales are down 14% (calendar year to date) compared to 2007.

Don't be suckered into the illusion of exclusivity or supply shortage. There are going to be plenty of 08 and 09 G sedans to go around. Infiniti sells over 30,000 a year.

Be patient and don't pay MSRP.

I went to the dealership the other day, and that was the first thing my sales person said to me. She even said that they have been selling QX's like mad. You definitely should look elsewhere.

Thanks for all of the feedback everyone. I haven't ever paid close to MSRP on any new car I purchased. Nissan did the buy a car get one free deal in August, I am guessing that increased their sales.

I'm going to shop around the nearby states so if anyone knows a good dealer in Colorado, Nevada, or Arizona please let me know. Thanks GF

You think that is bad, when I was shopping for a Maxima this year before I went to Infiniti I had found a new 2007 SE with under 80 miles on it (i.e. only test drives, etc)

I had a price on an new 08 SE for 21,700 OTD which was not bad.

Now cars just approaching 2-year left overs are my fav for getting price... Still new, but 2 years depreciation built in if you work on haggling right. The dealer is looking for 22,500 and won't budge. I was thinking more along the lines of high 19s and low 20s given that there were a lot of 08s right around 22K advertised at the time.

There are some irrational dealers out there. Key is to shop around and maybe go a little further out

The segment of the mkt where the G lives is hyper-competitive...it's been going up againt a 5 yr old TL, old A4, 3 series sedan, tired IS, etc. All of these cars are either new (A4, TL) or refreshed. Things will get interesting soon...just be patient...by the end of the year discounts will be in place, IMO.

But your numbers don't address the original point that G35 sedan sales are down from same time last year.

Of course, I'm sure people waiting for the 2009 G37 has very little to do with that
