Maybe the 7AT is better, but I'd order the 6spd again if I were doing it over again in '09.

Nice to see no drastic changes besides terrible looking wheels and more weight. My '08 will hold value just fine
Your 08 G35 has many virtues, but "holding value" is not one of them

Just ask your local dealer (or even Mike @ Riverside). Infiniti is desperate to dump the remaining 08 G35 sedans, and resale values will tank (despite what the outdated Intellichoice and JD Power data says).

short term yes... there are always deals on outgoing models.

2-3 years from now, the fact my car is a '35' vs. a '37' won't make a drastic difference. There's not enough difference between models to encourage buyers to want one over the other just for the '09 'upgrades'.

I've had my '08 for a year now... so not like I would be choosing between the two recently or the '09 was ever an option for me anyways.

Basically it's not an 'E90 BMW' situation... 330i vs. 335i

Well said.

In the long run, they all depreciate.

I feel terribly bad for all the 330i owners, one year life?

You may have a point there, but it all depends on who the audience is at the time our "older" G's will hit the market again. To the common Jane and Joe, what they'll see are "2009" and "37" -- features and performance be damned, those are enough to trump "2007/8" and "35". Just wait till they see the numbers 328 vs. 306(hp).

Lets not forget..

1. The 0-60 of 5.2 (I think that is what the article said) is just one test.
2. The auto may be faster due to it just being easier to launch and perfect shifts.
3. The difference in adding 30-40hp is SO much larger when 0-60 times are so...think like a 110HP B13 Sentra vs. a 140HP B13 Sentra SE-R.

As a side, not sure how this car gained 100+ pounds. Brakes? The engine. Just b/c its a 3.7 vs. a 3.5 doesn't ness. mean the engine itself should be heavier. If you bore and stroke an engine...its still basically the same engine with bigger pistons or a longer stroke.

Lastly, it seems like 3.7 is a nice step up. Less vibration...which the 3.5 is starting to get slammed for, better fuel economy with the 7sp (up to 2mpg on some models) and possibly even faster than the blazing fast 07-08 G35. Win, Win, and maybe a 3rd win.

I feel much happier about my decision on the 08 now :-)

Especially if you consider the deals they are giving on 08's now with the financing at .9% and huge drops in MRSP.

Maybe... but I think it'll be like GS400 vs. GS430 values. You can spend the couple grand more for a newer model... but there's not really any incentive to. Most people with stay within their budget and buy a G35 vs. a G37 since they are so comparable.

My guesses are...
- BBK, probably adds 20lbs.
- More sound deadening, 20-30lbs or so(?)
- Difference in dash materials (??)
- Different wheels (10+ lbs(?))

That accounts for about half the weight gain so far.

My speculation would be about a ~50 lbs from the BBK, another ~40 or so from the engine (VVEL + supporting components).

As for the rest....

Possibly Rims, materiels, sound deadening.

Some "official" information available via the Infiniti Intranet:

In G Sedan, the 3.7-liter engine produces 328 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Along with the new engine is a new 7-speed automatic transmission.

G37 Sport 6MT and models equipped with the Sport Package receive upgrades including:

A quicker 14.7:1 steering gear ratio
14-inch front disc brakes with 4-piston horizontally opposed calipers and 13-inch rear discs with
2-piston calipers
New sport wheel design

Exterior changes for the G lineup include redesigned outside mirrors like the ones on G Coupe, two new color choices (Moonlight White and Sahara Sandstone), and the addition of Scratch Shield paint. Inside, the heated seat switch is now an easy-to-use dial, interior trim has been updated, and auto door locks are added. Genuine Rosewood trim is now available on A/T models equipped with the Sport Package.

I was expecting it to be lighter and faster. Booo.
I guess this is good for V36 G35 owners.

That is why I leased mine with a nice 60% residual for 36 months! They will take a bath when I trade my G35 for a G35 hybrid in 3 years!

Good read. Thanks for posting. I'm shocked to see their performance numbers came out like that. Guess we need to see some more tests.
