Wasn't the '08 supposed to 'clear up vibration issues' or whatever?

I feel like this is just standard for all announcements. I doubt anyone could feel the difference between an '08 and '09.

I think there may be a difference between the 7AT and 5AT maybe, but that doesn't apply to me as a 6MT owner.

I'd say overall it's 'improved' (as all new model years should be)... but it's not a jaw dropping improvement that will make '07 or '08 owners trade in.

I don't really see anything for '08 owners to be envious of.

Agreed. It's not like this is the aforementioned 330i-to-335i-style upgrade. It's incremental.

Nothing revolutionary to see here... move along.

Exactly. Their longterm tester G35 6MT did a 13.8@102mph with 40k miles. Also, the article states that the G37 weighs 120lb more than "their lightest" tested G35. I love how G35 owners are reading between the lines This is just the first test. There will be plenty more to follow and I'm certain we'll see that the G37 sedan is about .2 and 2mph faster than the outgoing G35 sedan. The 7ATs will probably prove to be even quicker, as well as an Gs running with the much lighter standard brake package.

Yeah 08 drivers seriously need to calm down. I bought my 08 last month knowing the 37 would come out but i have 0 regrets. This is the best car i have ever owned and i got it at an amazing price. The 37 sounds awesome and I'm sure it is better than the outgoing 35 but as long as your happy with your car, you don't need convince anybody else

+1! I love my 08 G35. I also knew there was a 09 change, but I needed the car. I can't wait to see what they do for the total redesign in a couple years. The improvements for the 09 are great. I hope future improvement s are even better. They should give the G the heated/cooled seats and the fold down rear seats for trunk room. Like the new maxima has.

I wonder if it's me or the new 09 G37 interior feels more expensive after I had a chance to sit in one at the Anaheim Auto show. If I recall correctly, the steering wheel material on one of the 08 loaners has a semi plastic material that feels a little bit low end. The new steering wheel material feels closer to leather. I then went to sit in an Audi and it seems like the materials almost feels the same on both car. I also notice the underside of the interior door panels also feels more "expensive". The dash board materials feel better as well. Again I am only trying to compare from memories.
I also went and sit in a BMW 3 and it's so underwhelming compared to the G. It feels so spartan and stripped down that feels down right "low end" comapred to the G. After having sit in the IS350, new TL, Audi A4, 3, and G, the G definitely strikes the best balance between luxury and technology. I think the German interior design (335 and A4) seems to flatter the, whether misguided or not, the driver intellectual and sophistication and somewhat snobbish attitude. It's like saying I am too good to care about fake stuffs like interior designs. On the other hands, Japanese designs are some times guilty of being overwrought like those from Mitsu or Subaru and that are filled with toy like techies stuffs. The G feels to me has the right balance of those two extremes. The old G had a bad reputation for terrible interior deservedly but the new design is just light year ahead. After the show, I went back to my old G and it felt downright crummy. lols.
I also sat in the new Jaguar XF but it's definitely not for me -- too old British.

Wow what a surprise it gained weight, who saw that coming.
Regardless it's a great car. People the G is not a sport car. It's too heavy for that role, it's more of a a luxury sport sedan. And that is not a bad thing at all.

The added MPG's is nice though. But not enough of an improvement for me to regret buying my G35Xs when I did.
My next G needs to have a DSG type gearbox. Although I rarely use the paddle shifters.

Thanks for the link.

Don't need a G50, the the G is fast enough. All it needs is to improve it's MPG 28-30 on the hwy would be nice and to shed about 250lbs.
The G is too heavy. I like a DSG gearbox myself.
Less weight will make the car more fun to drive, the car will be more tossable.

That won't happen without a 2nd engine option, either a small V-6 or a big I-4 plus a CVT. 60-70% of buyers would choose this option, I think.

But that won't happen until the next gen sedan. Think the G37 will last longer than 2 years?

Automobile magazine expects a 3.5 V-6 with a hybrid option in 2010, but that sounds more 'feel-good marketing' than 'fuel saver' to me.

Don't understand all the hype about this car. Only improvement i see are the brakes. 120lbs heavier...not good. 22hp more means nothing and barely improves accelartion specs in a car. Torque is what counts and no improvement there. Go buy a preowned 07 or 08, keep 10k in your pocket or mod the heck out of it!
