As for power, HP is derived from torque. Peak torque numbers didn't change much, but lay a dyno graph of a VQ37HR over that of a VQ35HR and you'll see that the VQ37 has a fatter powerband and that's what accelerates the car. If peak torque was the only factor in accerating a car, a 265hp/425tq BMW 335d would be faster than a 300hp/300tq 335i. The 335d, isn't faster. it's actually about 1 second slower through the 1/4 mile.

The 2009 G37S sedan (6MT) weighs only 83 lbs more than the 2008 G35S (6MT)...3615 lb vs. 3532 lbs.
An additional 22 hp and the Akebono big brakes for 83lbs? I'll take it.
