g37 msrp is down

factory rebates make the g37 msrp cheaper than the 08s. So... either get a discounted g35 08 or wait another week or two and get a g37 for the same price.

not a tough decision for me.

Again, the 120lbs "weight gain" is a comparison between a fully optioned 2009 and the lightest tested G35. There is as much 60lbs difference between option packages and when consider the big brake option, you could be looking at as much as 80+lbs difference. Overall, you're only looking at a 40-50lbs weight gain, if that.

As for power, HP is derived from torque. Peak torque numbers didn't change much, but lay a dyno graph of a VQ37HR over that of a VQ35HR and you'll see that the VQ37 has a fatter powerband and that's what accelerates the car. If peak torque was the only factor in accerating a car, a 265hp/425tq BMW 335d would be faster than a 300hp/300tq 335i. The 335d, isn't faster. it's actually about 1 second slower through the 1/4 mile.

I looked for a graph from Nissan \ Infiniti
showing a TQ curve & HP curve for each motor.
Can you post a link?
Thanks,

Official specs are now in:

The 2009 G37S sedan (6MT) weighs only 83 lbs more than the 2008 G35S (6MT)...3615 lb vs. 3532 lbs.

An additional 22 hp and the Akebono big brakes for 83lbs? I'll take it.

I hope Infiniti realizes that selling 2008 models in January 2009... Won't work out very well.
