Heated Seats

Both of the driver and passenger side heated seats don't seem to work that well. On the low setting, you can hardly feel any heat at all. On the high setting, the seatback gets warm. On either setting the seat-bottom gets no heat at all. I'm bringing it in to the dealer tomorrow to see what they say. I saw there was a TSB for heated seats on '07s. I have an '08 g35x but my dealer says that they haven't seen this problem on the '08s. Anyone else have this issue?

My '08 is only a week old, but your thoughts seem to mirror my first impressions of the heated seats after trying them yesterday for the first time. I put in an aftermarket kit in my S2000 and had them from the factory in one of my old e46 BMWs, and the heated seems on the G seem to be the "weakest". Keep me posted on what you find out.

I don't consider them weak... I think they work well.
My old 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee used to get so hot that it would burn the backside of my legs.
For me, the low setting heats a little bit and the high setting gets very warm. I do feel it in both the seat and back though, so maybe you're in for the new wire harness.
Any idea what your 08 build date is?

Mine work well ONLY AFTER the tsb was performed, it does take a bit longer than my TL buts once up to temp, no complains

I will have to say that the heated seats in my 330CI were so much better compared to the heated seats in my G35. IMO the seat takes way to long and they arent even that warm.

Isn't it possible because the BMW uses letherette? I know my wifes car can cook my a$$. I love the infiniti heated seats. Not too hot. Just enought to keep you warm but not uncomfortable. I just checked it last week. It took 3 minutes to feel it good. That is not bad.
You can take it to the dealer and they can measure it for you how hot it is. If not hot enough they can fix it.

We tried them out for the first time Friday night in mine. I've never had a car with heated seats before so I wasn't real sure what to expect. I agree with you. I was less than impressed with the heat output, but my girlfriend seemed to really enjoy them. Seeing how she'll be the one using them 90% of the time.....I guess they'll be ok haha

I would have to agree w/ the heated seats taking too long to heat up, but when they get warmed up they keep a nice temperature compared to my wife's MDX which even on the low setting is enough to cook my a$$ to a crisp

You can get leatherette or leather in a BMW, at least in my old e46 BMWs -- my '00 328Ci had leather and my wife's '01 330i had leatherette.

My '05 S2000 has leather seats and the aftermarket kit gets very hot.

In any event, I just wanted to let the thread starter know that I shared his thoughts, but I think I prefer them this way where they don't get too hot. We shall see once I start to use them more.

I only saw leatherette on BMW. Or maybe all seems to look like that. Anyway I love leave it on winter time even if I go for a longer trip. It keps it nicely warm. No need to touch the controller. On my wifes car I keep turning the thing off and on.

I guess the aftermarket kit on your S2K is not adjustable.

is it just me or you to be sitting on the seat for it to warm up... like if you turn on the car and turn it on... come back 5 mins later.. the seat will still be cold... i think it defeats the purpose of having "heated seats."

Well, I had the dealer look at the car. They said that the seats were normal and the service advisor actually told me that the heated seats in the '08s were not very good. Said that in the '08s the seat material had been upgraded so that there was a bit more cushioning (actually agree with this coming out of an '05 g35x). But come on, I can hardly feel the heat at all, even after having them on for a long time. And even so, only on the seat back and not the seat bottom. I'm really disappointed with Infiniti on this one. Interestingly, they gave me an '07 g35x loaner and the seats heated up just fine. Anyone know if the actual seats are different b/wn the '07 and '08s? Mine was built July '08.
