Working on a lease deal on G35XS, does this make sense

Salesman tells me there is a $595 bank fee .. what is that? She I be assuming a deal at invoice? Is that what you are all seeing out there. Seems that they want to move this stock to "make room" for G37 sedan

595 bank fee is standard on all leases.

I have absolutely no idea, since I don't know where you live, and I've never actually seen a G35xS in person before.

Each region has a different market and possibly different incentives.

So-Cal probably has the most competetive market in the nation, if not the workd, but we'll never sell a xS, since nobody needs AWD here.

I can do WAY under invoice if you pay cash. Otherwise, unless the dealer has an objective to meet, they arn't likely to lose money to sell a car.

Lease

I leased a G35xS back in mid July in STL and paid $600 a month for 36 months, no money down and 15k miles a year. The car has all options including the intelligent cruise and adaptive lights. I don't think it was a particularly great deal, but was well within the company's budget. Hope this helps.

It's really tough to compare monthly payments, etc. without knowing what options people have, tax amounts in their states (or if that tax is even included in their payments). The trick is to know the variables involved with a lease (money factor, residuals, etc) which are pretty easy to find online these days. Since you will almost definitely use Infiniti Financial Services for the lease there isn't any room to negotiate those terms.

What you can negotiate (as you asked in your first post) is the 'purchase' price. This would be what the dealer is willing to sell/lease the car for. I would think that invoice or invoice minus up to about $500 wouldn't be too bad. If you were buying the car you would see all kinds of crazy $3k and $1k incentives with cheap financing. If you are planning to buy the car you might want to explore the monthly payment difference to see if that makes more sense. Either way - you have to negotiate the starting price of the car then apply the incentives.

You never know where the market is going and if they'll have the colors and options you want in the 08 so if you are in the market I would set a goal, tell the dealer what you would like and let them see if they can get there. If not, you have other dealers you can go to but in this market they will try to maximize their profits on each vehicle since they are selling fewer of them. It should be interesting. Please post back your experiences.

Jay

Jay, thanks for your time in response to my inquiry, much appreciatied. This will be my 4th leased car. I am well versed in the process, and always start with negotiating the cap. cost. Since I am more familiar with the Audi product I feel a bit uninformed about the typical practice of Infiniti dealers. With Audi I know typicaly know what I can get

most people here got jerked hard. I bought an XS in april i live in northern new jersey and the demand for awd is greater than anything. in fact if you want an S you're gonna have to wait until they can find you one. i had seven months left on my maxima lease. they ate the early termination fee. i paid only for the fees (taxes, registratrion, bla bla) out of pocket it ended up being 1,128. i pay 417 a month for a 12k a month lease including a retarded package that i bought for the wheel and tire protection which of course will NEVER ever be used. (aftermarket wheels, tires). and i'm fully loaded, navi, bose, back up camera, sport package of course, awd, intell pack. if i managed to get that low i think anyone can.

From: Waltham Ma,
I'm picking up my X-S( No Navi) tomorrow and $2500 OFP 39 months 10k a month and paying $560. Only high cause I'm getting rid of 6k of negative cash on a trade in. So I got the car at 32,5k but with the trade moved it up to 38,5. There are will to deal with the 09's on the door step. I shopped 4 dealers and waited till I got the deal I wanted. Funny thing is the dealer I got the car from did not have a X-S in stock so had to swap one with another dealer, That dealer I was at at earlier last week and they tried to rap me, LOL can't wait to call the sales man and say thanx for swapping the their car for me.. LOL

Best I can say on a lease is going to probably be about Invoice - $400 to $600 (that's about what I got and it was a tough negotiation).

I think that is what the OP is actually looking for (sorry I didn't realize you were 'in the know' about leases )

So the question would be - what is your negotiated cap cost (prior to any cap cost reductions paid out of pocket or with the $500 Infiniti loyalty being added).

My below invoice pricing only worked after I took all of the incentives and out of pockets out of the equation. The $500 loyalty was for returning Infiniti owners end of August. They kept trying to fog up the picture by throwing a bunch of crap into the mix. Once I got them to do what I asked we could get down to real #'s and, althought I my have been able to 'beat them up' a bit more, that was not my M.O. I don't mind if they make money on the transaction as long as I feel I got a fair deal. They met my goals and I was happy with that.

Oh, and FYI my specs are: G35x, Premium, Nav, Tech, Wood - they had my specific color and options config so I decided it was the right time while I had the choice - did not go S as I wanted wood. Glad I waited as it doesn't look like leasing got any better in the past 1.5 months.

Hope that helps!

Jay
