Idle minds.........ICC

Hey, I've driven my wife's G35X about 4 times in the month we've owned it. I used the ICC on the highway twice in good weather. But I was wondering. For you Floridians who drive in downpours or Mainiacs who drive in heavy snowstorms, does the laser beam refract off the water or snow?

If so, what happens? Does the beam manage to penetrate the weather? Does the system detect the refraction and simply disengage? Does it start doing wacky things with vehicle speed? Granted in a heavy downpour or blizzard you probably shouldn't be zipping merrily along on cruise control. But, inquiring minds want to know.

The ICC system works well in bad weather but disables itself when the windshield wipers are turned on. The way to avoid this is to use the fastest intermintent setting instead. For safety reasons, Infiniti does want us driving at 65 mph in the rain and snow with our ICC Cruise on.

We'd need to have our head examined if we drove in the snow with the cruise on, but it does work.... That is, until the snow builds up on the sensor. Then it shuts off and you'll receive a " dirty sensor" warning.

Driving into a setting sun will also blind it and cause it to shut off. I've had it happen several times. It simply shuts itself off. No problem.

In the pouring rain it disengages immediately and driving into the setting sun.
