The savings from better fuel economy aren't too significant. The math clearly shows you won't break even. However, better fuel economy is a factor. Combine this with early tests showing better acceleration, refinement (I think I read this), and upgraded interior materials and I think you've got a good argument for holding out for an 09. And don't forget you also get uglier wheels .

I'm not too sure about the interior upgrades, though. Can anybody comment on the difference in interior materials quality between an 08 and 09?

Oops, looks like I stand corrected. Seems like the Sport Package AWD does not come w/ the Akebono's Looks like an excuse for an aftermarket BBK!

Apparently they are very minimal changes, if any. You get round seat heater dials..

Hey guys,

After my trip down to STL to test out and visit my Plat. Graph. G35xS I decided there is no point in "wasting" the extra money on the 08. This is my first new car and the deals were just too good to pass up and one ride in the car was enough to sell me.

Bob at Bommarito is a great guy to deal with. They had a lengthy road trip for me to test it on which was good for suspension, handling and (per his idea) acceleration. I love the way the car feels on the road, maybe a bit stiffer suspension than I expected but easily better than my 98 grand prix GTP in that respect. I figure that will be aided by some Eibach springs in the next coming weeks.

Basically everything went exactly as I'd hoped and I was able to make what in my opinion was a great deal on an awesome car and didn't feel the few changes/upgrades available on the 09's were worth the wait/difference in price.

I'll wait for the next generation to roll around and see what that may bring =)

Any specific questions I'll be more than glad to answer.

I'd love to hear any details about your deal, if you feel comfortable sharing that. if not, the only other question i have is, did you get to drive both? i take it you drove it home? you got the g35x with premium, nav and sport? thanks man! congrats on a great car. im jealous.

All you guys are saying 4000 - 5000 under invoice price. The invoice price for 2008 Journey Sedan is $30,891 according to KBB.Com. Does that mean the new car price is around 26,500 + Tax + Misc. But, I also saw people saying they paid 32000 something.

Could somebody please clarify?

Clarification: 4000-5000 is without the 0.9% financing
There are different models/packages for the g35. Most people are specifying it

Personally, my rule of thumb is find out the invoice price for the model (Journey in my case), and the packages (Sport and Premium in my case)

In my case, those add up to about $34,500, minues a $1000 dealer incentive, that makes $33,500, which can still be combined with the 0.9%

You can still get it for $30,500, (with the $3000 incentive), but you can't use the 0.9% financing

I bought mine in October and got it for about $3000 under invoice (about $6000 under MSRP), without 0.9%. I could have gotten a better deal on one in San Antonio or Houston by compromising on my color choice. But, my Infiniti dealer had the exact one I wanted and the ideal car from a dealer 2 minutes from my office was worth the extra few hundred bucks.

I just wish they were offering those sweet deals (3 k off or 0.9% APR) for the '09s

The G35 auto has 5.6-5.8 0-60 times, and thats what C&D got, but i doubt u will get as good time as they will since they are trained.

Car and Driver tested an automatic 07 G35 Sedan at 5.5 seconds 0-60. The manual they tested was 5.2 seconds. You are really green! Why would you think I couldn't get as good a time as them? I've gotten a better time than that in my car. Road and Track got a better time in the automatic as well (0-60 in 5.3 seconds). One reason times vary between magazines is because Car & Driver might have gotten a car that wasn't broken in yet while Road & Track got one that had been broken in. Or because one mags tester's were better drivers. Or because of elevation, temperature, humidity, etc... Just look at the times of for the new Nissan 370Z. Motor Trend got 4.7 seconds 0-60 while another mag got 4.9 and another got 5.1. Three different times for the same car but that happens all the time. It has the 07 G35 sedan AUTO doing 0-60 in 5.2 seconds(all the times listed are for stock vehicles, no mods). I know you're a G37 FANBOY but the G35 auto's stock times are virtually the same as the G37 autos (one reason being the G37 is almost 100 lbs heavier).
