Another bad salesman story (long - sorry)

I had a similar experience with a terribel salesman and dealt with it a little differently. Pictre this: late in '07 I read about the '08 finally coming out with the X sport pk combo, so I hed to the dealer. after speaking with the salesslime, he takes me back to the lot and we look at the cars - no xS. Then he thinks for a minute and tells me there is no such thing, Infiniti doesn't make it and that I would be "stupid" (his exact wrd) to want the X with a Sport pkg. Anyway, I show him the writeup online in the service dept waiting area and he insists that's wong too. At that point I just leave. The next day he calls back and says he was mistaken, that Infiniti was going to make it but hey wouldn't be available for a while and he'd let meknowwhen they had one. I get a call about two weeks later from someone else in the dealership thanking me for my previous visit, and telling me they had the car I was looking for. I trot back to the dealer and meet the same idiot salesman, and tell him I want to drive the car. The jerk loos at me like I have two heads and tells me the car doesn't exist yet. I sk wy I got a call to est drive it and he tells me I'm either mistaken or someone is playing a joke on me. Now it gets interesting. I send an email to Infiniti.com asking them when the car would be available. I get a nice reply stating that the best place to get that information was the dealer, but that if my question wan't answered I should call an 800 number and speak to an Infiniti "representative". So I called. Relayed the story above and said that if the only way to get info in the car was to go to the dealer, I would be heading to the BMW dealer instead. Didn't xpect it, but that some attention. I was asked if it was ok tohave a general manager contact me, and within 10 minutes the GM from the dealer called me. Long story, but I got my car at invoice without a single bit of bullsh*t after that. The GM is now my best friend when I go in for service. For some reason they pay attention to Infiniti corpoate office... So don't just accept the garbage behavior - speak up to corprate and you'll likely get a beter deal than they first offered. The dealers are desperate now and so is the manufacturer. otherwise they wouldn't be offering 0% financig.

So here is my update to this story - the lady I had been emailing from the poor dealership emailed me yesterday and asked if I visited and what I thought? seemed a little fishy to me that she wouldn't have checked in with her mangers/sales people, but its possible. so i responded and told her i was there and drove the car, and that I loved it, but didn't buy. She responded and asked why. So I told the whole story. I even told her that I had financing and a check ready to go, but that the guy never let the conversation get to that point. anyway, its been a day and half and i haven't heard back! not even so much as a 'I am sorry, please give us another shot'.

I did the same with the manager of "Champion Honda" in Corpus Christi. I told him why we didn't buy from his store and where we did buy. Never got a reply or "we have turned that into a training issue". Not anything. Never will I go back.

FYI.
I'm sure you can do an internet search and find the exact car that you want. Then call and negotiate a price, and have them DRIVE/SHIP it out to you!
I've heard of many people doing that...

Just call and find the best price around.......

OK, so to update my story. I found another dealer with this car/color combo. I contacted them directly. They were about another 40 mins past the other dealer, but it was well worth the distance. I ended up getting a MUCH better deal on the car and he was nothing but professional the whole time. I picked it up saturday and its currently sitting in my garage! I love it. I was soo tempted to get off the exit on my way past, and go rub my new car in that a$$hat's face but I behaved. FYI - the horrible treatment came from Timonium MD (nationwide). the GREAT treatment came from Sheehy Infiniti of Annapolis MD.

Well, i had a bad experience at the lexus dealership.... I went there about 2 months ago, to look at a 08/09 lexus GS350, and test drove it. Loved the car btw. But yea, the girl sat me in the room, and i told them i wanted to trade in my G35 (read sig if you wanna know what i have). The girl comes back, and tells me my car is only worth 20k. I was like wtF? only 1 year after i bought it? I know i was going to take a hit. And if they would have offered me 25, i would have brought home the GS, but dang, 20k???!!!?? So then she asked how much can i afford, and tried to sell me a used GS300, I was like no, i want a new car, and i think you can do better on the trade in price. So she asked me when I'm ready to buy, I told her I'm willing to buy when the price is right, and she told me that since i'm not ready to buy, she's not going to give me any offers.... I was Like WTF? and she escorted me out, out the side of the dealership (car wasn't there btw, it was in front). And I asked her, that i didn't appreciate that she didn't want to deal with me, just b/c i didn't want to buy the car THAT day, (i would have bought it in a week, just would have to move some money around). And she said that's not what she said, I said yes it was, and she just said THANKYOU (with a little attitude) and walked off, and i'm looking around for my car due to them parking it somewhere else when they tried to "appraise" it....

Go back now, I'll be the same car is still on the lot and she is a little hungrier than two months ago. Let her make a deal and then tell her to **** off.

Ah, i gave up on the GS. I realize i'd take too big of a loss on my G35, and it just wouldn't be financially responsible. So i'll just drive my G35, and save up. I'm trying to save up enough to buy a porsche boxster/cayman or an audi A5 by next christmas. That way instead of getting rid of my G, i can have both...
