Just as Robby said... This mod does absolutely nothing for performance, but it does get rid of that very cheap looking piece of plastic that the factory calls an engine cover. Although, it did also save me about 8 ounces of weight... that 1/2 lb weight savings has got to help my 0 - 60 & 1/4 mile times!

Thanks for all the great comments, Guys!!! I do like the idea of going with the Stillen Carbon Fiber intake covers / heat shields. I'm planning on going with the K&N intake system, but I may try buying just the intake covers in Carbon Fiber from Stillen and see if I can get them to work with the K&N... Now that would look sweet!

enjoy lol
u should really get this bro
Hey Robby. Does your Stillen catalog show if they sell these covers separately? I'd imagine that they might, so people that have Stillen intakes with the non-carbon fiber covers can upgrade.

Call up Stillen cuz in the last sentence of that catalog it say that it wont be sold separately. Call em up and see if u can work out some sort of deal.
or you can order the whole thing and sell the intakes lmao

Damn... I'll have to check with them and see. Tell them I damamged them or something and see if they'll see me "replacements". LOL... Or just wait a few months and find someone selling a used set. I've even thought about making a customer set of heat shields out of polished aluminum for the K&N, so that they wrap around the entire filter... guess I could just custom make them myself out of carbon fiber instead of aluminum. Hmmm... Lots of options.

Good point! I'll take care of that now. I've also got a few other mods to list now, as well.. I think I'm gonna be changing my signature a lot in the next few months.

Thanks man. Good to hear you finally got your intakes... Do you have them insalled yet? If so, post up some pics so we can all see.

The K&N Group Buy is going ok... we only have 5 r 6 people interested, but that is still enough for us to get a decent price. If we don't get anyone by the end of the weeknd, then we are just going to move forward with what we've got. Hopefully I'll have the new intake on soon... Just need to get the car dyno'd first, so I at least have a base-line to work with.

Very cool. Can't wait to see AND hear it installed. I won't be installing mine right away, because I want to get the car dyno'd first, or I may just end up installing the new intake at the dyno shop, so I can do a before and after then same day. I will keep you updated and will post pics and a video once (and maybe dyno charts) as soon as I get it installed.

F.Y.I. that is not real carbon fiber, i dont want to sound like a jerk or a-hole but that "carbon fiber" will start to fade within a few months guarenteed. real carbon fiber cost thousands of dollars. all that is, is 1 layer of carbon fiber and the rest is fiber glass painted.

Basically, WASTE OF MONEY! (looks nice thought )

Sorry to burst your bubble, DGH, but it is most definitely real carbon fiber. I have worked enough with fiberglass in the past to know the difference. I currently get carbon fiber speaker cones made in China for around 20 - 30 cents each (landed), so carbon fiber can be done VERY cheaply. Plus, this entire piece only weighs about 8 oz... This same piece in fiberglass would be 2 - 3 times that. Thanks for the comments, though.
