Aside from looking cool, BBK's are beneficial in reducing brake fade during repeated stops and have minimal affect on emergency braking distance when compared to the stock brakes.

Tire grip and the ABS have bigger roles in braking distance. The ABS does not care what kind of brakes are on the car ... it activates on wheel lock up. That said, the stock S brakes are more than capable of locking up and triggering the ABS.

^^ well i rarely drive my car hard for long periods of time so i imagine this wouldn't be a worthy mod for me...thanks for clearing that up fellas...2 feet and less fade just isn't worth the price of admission...i'd rather spend the money on some sick coilovers and suspension...thanks again

I'm not sure if that was English, but yes the Akebono's actually stopped within 3 feet of the G35S, but that's 3 feet longer (with the G37 taking 160 feet to stop from 70 mph, compared with 157 feet for the G35. Frankly, either number is good; the car has great brakes - Car and Driver).

The big advantage to these is that they look better and will probably fade a lot less with hard use. Most people will never be braking as hard as needed to ever need the advantage so basically they just look better...

^^ for sure, i think they look fantastic...but would like to get some natural utility from them instead of hardcore-driving utility...i only rag out loaners so my car really wouldn't benefit from them...they look fantastic though without a doubt, maybe because i'm not a real big fan of the slotted and drilled rotors...oh well, i guess i can take off the akebono BBK off my parts list now...

Just for comparison sake with the stock Sport brakes:
  • Had my S on a road course which include a 100 mph straight into a 90 degree S, and didn't experience brake fade even after ten or so laps
  • Just bedded the new brake pads, which involves eight hard stops (90%) from 60 - 5 mph. Brakes did not fade (although they def got hot )

Comparing the BBK to the stock brakes on my X... it may be worth the money.
The brakes on the X are less than satisfactory.

The price has come down on the BBK.
They will be mine.... oh yes, they will be mine.

Well Even the X with the Sports package don't have the regular S brakes right?
