What's the catch? Do you want a higher mileage car with a lower price or something? If not, get a second gen and enjoy all the refinements.

2nd gen does everything better than the first gen.

2nd gen. New body style. HR35 motor putting down 300hp and the auto tranny logic is much superior than the old G35s. Interior is also much better.

Of course a 2nd gen is going to cost alot more.

I had a HR35 powered G35 sedan and a loaner while my 03 sedan got worked on. No doubt the 2nd gen is superior all the way

2nd gen! Oh wait, what was the question?

There were a lot of updates for the 2nd gen, starting with the new VQ-HR with considerably more performance, and lots of applause for the new interior updates and features. If it's within your price range, go with the 2nd gen. Note that these comments are for the sedan, which moved to 2nd gen in '07; 2nd gen coupe is the G37.

2008 G35 Journey Sedan no sunroof
don't get the 1st gen unless you're short and/or really skinny... the seat controls on the side of the seat will numb your thigh after about 20 mins if you're average-sized or bigger.

Really! If you can afford both, I don't see how it's any question
