Wood trim - Need opinion

Hi all. I'm new to the forum and I'm about to pick up my G35xS. I have always wanted real wood and since the G offers it I want to take advantage of it. Of course it's not available with the Sport package but my dealer offered to install the factory wood anyway.

So here is where I'd like to hear some opinions. I love the wood on the center console but I'm not as crazy about it on the surrounds (pass side and door wraparound). Does anyone here think it would look good to have the wood on the console but washi on the surrounds? That's my thought but I'm not sure.

Thanks in advance for your opinions. This has been an excellent forum with lots of great info.

I think if you are going to add the wood you should put it everywhere the washi lies. How much are they charging you for the wood. Myself I like the wood and had it been available with the Sport Package I would of gone with the wood.

They're going to charge me $600 for the wood and I think that includes the installation.

The washi aluminum and wood are both nice but I would stick with a consistent look whichever you choose. We have the wood in a 2008 G35X and it's a nice warm look.

I'd stick with the Washi look, personal opinion.

The G is a sports sedan. Wood trim in the interior conveys luxury.. I just can't imagine seeing a Bentley or a Maybach with aluminum trim inside.

On the other hand if my memory is correct, the MB E55 had the wood which was stained a grey color which blended in with the interior. Whereas the "plain Jane" E-class had the "regular" wood color. The previous BMW M5, had the aluminum trim or the wood trim. I liked the aluminum trim a lot better... The E55 and M5 are sports sedans. The wood trim just seemed out of place.

I appreciate your opinion but I'm definitely going with wood. I'm just not sure whether I want wood all around or just on the center console. I'm starting to lean on all around though.

Hey, no problem. Like I said, it's my personal opinion and it's to each their own..

That being said, if you're going to go with wood trim, go all around, like the stock G. I think it would look really odd with it just in the center console..

Enjoy your new toy!

The wood trim that I have in my G35x was about a 430.00 option. Sounds like the dealer may be trying to over charge you unless it's more expensive to install because of labor to remove the existing trim.

I agree with the others about installing it entirely as opposed to just installing it on the center console. However, it's your car so set it up to your preference.

I paid $400 for the option, but you have to consider this is the price vs the core washi cost. These pieces are much more expensive if you buy them in a box. I bought the journey soley because I could not get the Sport with Wood. Personally, could not deal with the washi, looks too I don't know.. Get all panel. If you do part wood part aluminium, polish the aluminum or paint it. At least make is smooth, non washi.

Like mentioned above, I completely agree. If you decide to go with the wood trim, all around without question IMO.

IMO, it depends on the interior color. Black or Sand - I like the wood trim. I have a Obsedian Black ext. with grey leather 2007 G35X, The washi aluminium interior looks Very Sharp with the grey !!! Even the Dealership sales people who didn't handle my deal, complimented me on the selection when i picked up the car in April 2007. Holy SHI...; it's coming up on 2 Years.

Happy New Year to All

I think wood belongs in the forest lol. I have seen very few interiors where I like the wood trim, but that's just me.

definitely a complete change, if you're doing it.
IMO it'll look strange 50/50.

...also resale time your car will take a hit, unless you correct it at the time.
