The most annoying of the sqeaks and rattle was the one coming from the steering column cluster. This absolutely drove me nuts. I was able to get it fixed at the dealership...here's what they found and their fix to the problem:
"Lack of clearance between unified meter and lense and meter and lid. Insulated unified meter and cluster lid."
Problem solved...hopefully it stays that way.

I am so with you. I've had so many different parts of my car rattle on me since I bought it (Sunroof, steering column, center console, A-pillar, passenger seat belt, etc). Now, I just gave up on trying to get rid of em because everytime I take it to the dealer, they refuse to do anything about it. The most frustrating part is that the rattles come and go, and it's almost impossible to duplicate the sound when needed.

Interesting thread. I owned a 2000 I30 and 2002 I35 that were very quiet except for back deck rattle that dealer padded and fixed. I switched to Acura on 04 for a TL and swore that car was a haunted house of squeaks, creaks and rattles. My 06 was far better, my 07 had a few and my last 08 was very quiet. I hear all these rattles and complaints about G and wonder what is going on. I am ready to get a G, but was hoping their build quality was what I was used to.

I get rattles in my car everywhere...but I really could careless. I just either turn my volume on my stereo up or listen to the drone of my exhaust and my screaming intakes.
Now the only thing that ticks me off is when my sub rattles (while it's cold out) when I crank up the music. I'd have to say Nissan/Infiniti should have bulked up the padding.

Thankfully, the FI Exhaust helps to hide the wind.
Try a 335i! The wind noise is ridiculous for a $45k car!

My car sounds like it was made out of Maracas.

Rattles Galore

I bought my G35 this past December and from the time they delivered the vehicle it has suffered from numerous rattles/ticks. It was really disappointing to discover that Infinitis had such poor fit and finish. However, the sunroof rattle got fixed on the first trip back to the dealer. The second trip got the rattle in the steering column/instrument gauge area lessened, but not gone completely. The third trip to the service department got the steering column/instrument gauge area rattle down to a minimum. So maybe there's some hope. Still have a tick that comes out over rough roads (which is daily, especially living in SF). I also have that cracking/tick sound coming from the middle of the dash. I will definitely ask Infiniti to take a look at that during my next service visit.

I dont get it, initially I thought I am just one of the lucky few, my 08 has no rattles. Oddly every loaner G35 I have driven has had no rattles either. Interesting

My car is pretty good except for the crack sounds form the washi trim and possibly the controller. I do get the popping sound from the windshield area every once in a while, but it always goes away.

I'm curious for those of you guys that have the wood trim. Do you ever hear the crack sound from the center console area??? I'm thinking maybe this only affect G's with the washi interior only.

That's the weird part about the popping (not pooping ) sound from the windshield area, its intermittent. Moisture, temps? I dunno, but it annoys the hell out of me. When it gets a bit warmer and if it continues I am definitely going to challenge the deal to fix it.

Keep up the good work..mine is 22 months old and has 4,000 miles on it

When new, had a rattle from the passenger side, seat belt height-adjuster. The dealership replaced it and problem solved.

J2: I too have some "come & Go' rattles, slight in nature - G35X 2007. I find that it is worse in the colder weather - being NY - that's going on now.... When the car warms up inside after driving a few miles or in the warmer weather, I hear these rattles rarely. I think it's the "fancy" plastics used in the dashboards and center consoles. I don't have Navi.

Noticed my first creaks today, if the sunroof sun visor (not even sure if thats the real name) is open, I could hear some creaks, closing it took care of it. Will probably take it to the dealer to fix it. Luckily this creaks are easily repeatable and can therefore be observed by the dealer
