Is it worth putting 17" Volks on stock tires?

A friend has the Volks TE37 in grey but they are 17" and the tires he has are too small for the G. I was thinking of putting my stock tires on these rims and then using the OEM's for winter tires? Is there any use in that, considering everything I read here is 19 or 20"?

I have a 07 G35X IP. I can get all 4 rims for about $600

This what they would look like. Click on this link to see the car & rims.

Thank you.

Are your stock tires the right width for these? And maybe a silly question, but are your tires 17s? I didn't think you could get 'em that small in 07...? Might be nice, but may look a bit small. JMO.

600 for a set of te37s! heck yes but i am completely bias since they have always been on my list of favorite rims... both the 1st gen and 2nd gen.. those look like the 1st

Yes my stock tires are 225/55/17 which is stock on all sedans in 07 except the 18's on the "S". So everything would be the same except the rims would be the Volks instead of OEM, then same tires gaps etc. TY

For $600 you'd be stupid NOT to IMO. Unless they are in horrible condition, I'd buy them regardless and at the very least resell them for twice the price.

Yes the stock tires are 17" Wayne. The volks rims are exactly the same size as the OEM Alloys which is 17 x 7.5 with 45mm offset (OP did not say offset for Volks)

If your budget is tight and the Volks have a more aggressive offset than stock, I would go for it. The volks are definitely lighter than stock, and they look good.
What is the offset of the Volks?

EDIT: Disregard my above comments the OP was just showing what they looked like in that link, not the actual size.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I just talked to the guy further and the rims are 17 x 8.5" and the stock tire is recommended for 6 - 8" rim so maybe this rim is too wide as well. Even thou they might be a good deal trying to make the set up work might be too much work and not right for the stocks.

I am going to pass and keep looking for 19's then use my OEM rims for winters.

Thanks for all your replies!!!

aren't 17" rims the best for a track setup?

17"= a wide range of tires for the track, otherwise i would recommend 18's...

Wait for the new TE's They utter straight sex.... you'll see them soon!

That is a fantastic price for those rims, he should have no problem selling them.
