I called them about it and it has nav and prem. Stopped by about 3 days later to take a look at both cars and they had to bring the 09 around to the lot. It sill had all of the wrap from the factory, seeats, wheels, everything wrapped. They are planning on moving any of the 09s until the 08s are gone. They don't have a single 09 on the lot.

I haven't really started to negotiate yet but they would only do $1000 off MSRP on the 09, but $3000 off MSRP on the 08 plus the 0.9% rate. I prefer a 6 speed, but am leaning towards pulling the trigger on the 08 given the deal (plus we're thinking of starting a family and the auto might be a wider choice).

Any opinions?????
I was faced with same thing a few times recently. I passed on 08 since I flip my cars often and even with $3K off you're walking out with a 1 year old car day 1. If you plan on keeping the car 5 years the 08 is a bargain. Other issue I had was all the damn cars ont he dealer lot had 100+ miles on them, those re short bursty test drives where people beat on it to check out the power.

That is very true, at my dealer they are selling them for 8-9K off MSRP right now and that is before any negotiation at all. They also only let you drive the salespersons demo cars, not the actual one you are going to buy just to keep the miles off of it. I'm sure they let you drive it once you are set you are buying it but until then nope.

I noticed the same thing when I was shopping for a G35. Anything over 10 miles is too much to have on the odometer. I consider those used cars.

Just a FYI, we do a proper PDI at our dealer, and most new cars will have between 12 and 20 miles before anyone even test drives.

You can do much better than $3k off MSRP + special financing....see the 2008 negotiated deal thread. Good luck!

I'm good with 10-20, prefer less than 10. What I wonlt take is a car with 90+ miles on it since most of these test drives are shor 3-5 mile burts where people beat ont he car, that is so bad for the engine, it never fully warms up and gets beat on. Dealers need to have a few demo cars and hands off anything else, but it is far too common in ATL that you pick any car on the lot and can test drive it.

Just to be fair to the dealer, if the car that you test drive (and intend to buy) had less than 20 BEFORE your test drive, would that work for you?

I do agree that a lot of dealers don't allow the car to properly warm up... I always demonstrate all the features in the car with the ignition on; by the time we pull out, the car is properly warmed up.

I prefer to test drive a car that has miles on it featured the way I want, coudl care about color. Then when I'm ready to buy i try to find one right off the truck, never test driven then they prep it and do paperwork then I test drive it and and make sure they didn't mess it up and drive off a happy customer.

So... basically you want someone else to eat your test drive miles

The options and features (other than sport package and AWD) don't affect the test drive itself; have you considered test driving a loaner? That'll give you a VERY good idea of how the car feels broken in, and will reveal any rattles and flaws.

Keep in mind that I do this often with customers concerned with longevity; everyone loves to beat on our loaners, and we have loaners approaching 70k miles.

Essenetially yes, but there are alwys those that will buy a car with a few miles for a better price. Actually I am fine if all the features that DON'T effect the ride on are the demo car, I can sit in a car on the lot and tinker with radio and navi.

If I based my buying decision on loaners I've driven I would never buy a G. My local dealer has low mileage 2008 loaners and nearly every one of them is a rattle box (pillars, dash, moon roof, etc.). I know people drive the sh*t out of them but I was under the impression that the dealer received manufacturer provided loaners (e.g. failed quality tests, etc.) rather than just grabbing good G's off the lot to make them a loaner. A few have had the window sticker in the dash that did not have a price rather than had the optons and DEALER LOANER listed where the price would normally be thus my reasoning for thinking that. I'm like some of the other folks, I'll drive any color sport model and then get back to the dealer and say "well I believe I would rather have xxxx color" and get one with virtually no miles on it after driving another.

Your dealer's may be different. Ours were cars that were for sale, no different from any other new car on our lots. The loaners are technically leased by us from Infiniti, so they will one day end up at a public auction...

The loaners tend to get smelly, but rattleboxes, they are not.

I actually walked out today the guy was bascically treatng me like I never bought a car before tell me it is fair to make $2400 on a car. I laughed at him, he pretened he didn;t understand holdback or dealer cash and kept saying he is selling car at cost at invoice. I said OK add 3% holdback, $1K dealer cash and your obsurd $599 DOC fee and you are over $2400. Walked out and said I'll come back when you have a lot of G37s sitting and paying carry charges on them! Told him bets I'll do is $500 over invoice and I get the $1000 dealer cash so basically $500 under invoice plus he'll still get is obsurd $599 doc fee! Not bad for a car that can be sold the day it comes off the truck.
