I was recently due for the 7500 servicing and told the dealer that I only wanted an oil change and tire rotation. They tried to charge me $80 for just the "tire rotation/balancing" alone. Anyone heard of this?? Should I just take it to another place to get the tires rotated for ~20 bucks?
Thanks.
Thanks.

what is it with dealers? they must think we were born yesterday. Your wheels should not need balancing with 7500 miles. Tire rotation should not cost more than $20. I'd go elsewhere for that.

That's not too bad actually. Balance should be around $10 a wheel, rotation around $20. So total you're looking at $60.
I do agree with jzinckgra, no balance necessary at 7500 mi. I'd do the rotation though.

Rotation should not cost any extra when they have to pull the wheels off anyway to balance. I'll never pay Infiniti $45 to change my oil either. Okay, getting off the soap box now.

America's Tire will rotate for free if you are willing to wait.......
They will even make repairs for free, all they usually ask is that you "consider" them when you are looking for tires.........

why so much for oil changes? I know it's an infiniti and all, but they aren't rolls royces. What about going to a nissan dealer?

"Discount Tire" will rotate for free. I have 25,000 miles and haven't rotated my tires at all. On rear wheel drives it's not necessary.

Use this experience to save yourself some grief. The service rep is a salesman. You can spend $3,000 on premium service in the first 60,000 miles, or you can spend $500 on Schedule 2 service doing it yourself, and anything inbetween. Get out your service and maintenance guide, read it, and you will know more about what Infiniti recommends for maintenance on your specific car than the service rep. It's a job for these guys, not a calling, they do what they're told, which is to make money for the dealership. The dealership is not Infiniti and vice-versa. I believe that nearly every owner wants to do what the factory recommends for these cars, but you are going to pay for a whole lot more than that if you walk into a dealership with no knowledge.
Premium service, usually the starting point for what the typical dealership calls 'service' -[U]more[U]maintenance items are regularly checked or replaced - 'may optimize the performance, reliability, and resale value of your vehicle'. In my opinion, great if you feel good having someone else lavish attention on your 'baby', or you're going to own the car for 150,000+ miles and preventive maintenance will be repaid by getting the maximum life out of every component - transmission, radiator, brake system, etc.
Schedule 1 - your car is a daily driver, some stop-and-go. Most of us are in this category.
Schedule 2 - Almost all highway, almost all trips 5 miles or more in temperate conditions. I might add, you can't see yourself owning it for more than a few years.
So I recommend deciding which category you fit in, and if you're in the middle, put yourself up one category and stick with it as long as you own your car. Best of luck

don't rotate if you have sports package, haha, otherwise they're just robbing you
dealer here wanted 50 bucks for oil change and 80 if I wanted synthetic, lol, of course I changed it myself, its soo easy with newer cars these days, the filter being so close to the drain plug, no mess
