I went with Stillen's cat back exhaust and I like it a lot as I wanted some nice notes, but not too rice or wake the wife in the morning, although she does here me leave more now than before....$1069 delivered plus $150 installation with local shop... no drone, I commute daily 25 miles one way at 70 mph plus....the fit is perfect, although I'm sure FI is equally as good and maybe better for some folks.

I am going to buy components and have a local shop fab up a custom job. I dont think our cars put out enough hp for mandrel bent tubing to make a major difference and i dont want to spend a grand on a cat-back setup.

I tried the Borla cat back and although the tone was friggen' nice and deep, it just had too much drone and/or a little too loud . I was looking for a deeper sound without added volume. Probably asking for too much. I put a post up on youtube somewhere of the sound recordings.

I didn't want to drop the coin for a FI system,
so I changed out just the rear mufflers for some Magnaflows.

It worked out great.... a deeper richer tone & easy on the wallet.

I'm Looking at the Tanabe exhaust, It's just a rear section thou. But the sound from Tanabe is great. The is a vid clip on their web site and there are few on here trying to het a group buy. The cheapest I saw on line was 581+ shipping. So more like $680 shipped. Nop to bad.. ??

680 for two muffler and two tips seems like way to much for me. I priced out a cat back system(components only) and found a local shop to do the work for 600 total.

But if the tanabe is what you want do it!

Yea $600 for a full system is good, the local shops here want 725-875 to build a system. If wanna spend that much I would buy a used FI or stillen. I really don't want to spend anywere close to 1k for a system. What componets did you pick. Magnaflow stuff. There is a guy on here that built is own Magnaflow system and sounded sick.

the tanabe mufflers are very nice though...i was going to buy them but didn't only because i thought the tips were off...but after owning the FI exhaust, i realize it was only the angle of the pictures...kinda like how it seems like a golf ball travels in the NE direction when in reality the ball is going straight...

I recall reading that the 09 G37 sedans have a different exhaust and now sound more like the coupe's... I am wondering if anyone has verified this.

I would just like to say that I have Borla exhaust and although some people dont like it becaue "oooh its not hks, greddy etc" or they like the stock exhaust better ( some say that borla sound doesnt go with our cars) I can care less about their oppinions, I love the sound it makes. The thing that matters is what you think about it, the only exhaust I would consider getting(which I did before I made my choice) would be Fast Intentions, I still stand by my choice though Oh and if your considering buying borla or anything else you should def. contact Mike@CZP, he will give you great deals on their czp website.
