Hey guys I need some help on what to do, I just purchased my New G back in late July and I only have 6700 miles on it. So I go to get a oil change and the stealership tells me that my rear tires are almost gone and that I should get them replaced soon. The thing is that the TIRES are warn down, I swear that I thought they were lying until I saw for myself. I dont know what to do? New tires will cost me like 400 dollars, thats a new PS3.... Anyway if anybody has any advice it would be great..... Cause thats impossible that they would be going bad already, I dont drive crazy, I dont burn out.... Ugh

The tires are treadwear rated at 140, which means they're VERY soft compound.

If you drive aggressively, they will wear very fast. I doubt you bought the car with used tires on it, so you'll just have to pony up and change them out. My advice is to buy a different brand of tire with a higher (i.e. harder) treadwear.

I see you have Tanabes, they lower the car quit a bit.
Is the tire wear even or mostly on the inside of the tire?

Try a reputable local tire shop that sells used tires. I would NEVER buy anything from the dealership other than doing an oil change or warranty service. You can always find good deals if just look hard enough. I purchased a full set of 245/40/19 RE050A RFT w/ ~85% tread mounted and balanced for 450 out the door! They were over $400/tire on tirerack.com

Do some work and you will be rewarded.

But still there is only 6700 miles on them, and in Southern CA, we dont have crazy weather out here.

That doesn't sound right. Something seems fishy.
That's just way too quick for tires to go.
But unfortunately can't do much about it now except buy new ones.

ya dude if its even treadwear and on all 4 tires with that low of a mileage i would find some place to complain. wel. mine are wearing super fast too, but thats because i mostly use them in the winter so thats 4 months out the year and i have 50% left. the tires are just garbage. i also never burn out or do donuts in my g.

Well, I drive my car for work every day and I don't baby it by any means. I would be lucky to get 10k miles out of these tires with the way I drive

As San mentioned, the factory tires are VERy soft, so they will wear pretty fast, but it all depends on your driving habits. I still have 9/32 of tread on all of my tires and I have around 4K miles on the car, so I expect to get 20K out of the factory tires, but I don't drive the car hard at all... I've got another car for that. I also recall one of the car magazines mentioned that they only got 9K miles out of the rear tires on their long term G35 sedan, so ~7K miles isn't too far off. Best thing you can do is get new tires, and make sure to get the car properly aligned.... then maybe change your driving habits a little bit if you want to get max life out of your tires.

I've never been a huge fan of Goodyear's, but in our tire size, your choices are limitted. Since these are an all season performance tire with a much higher tread wear rating than the factory tires, you should get a lot more mileage out of these... Keep inmind, though, that since these aren't summer only tires and aren't as soft, they won't give you as much grip on dry pavement as the factory Bridgestone's.

Prob Goodyear Eagle GT, the reviews look pretty good, price looks ok

The OEM tires are not crap, they just have a very low tread rating. Wait till you drive with a set of harder compound tires, the car does not handle as good.
