Borla on 08 G35X sedan

A new G35x owner here. I saw a vid on youtube of a G35S equipped with a borla exhaust system that sounded amazing. First, I wanted to know if it is compatible with the AWD model. I ask this because on borlas website they list which vehicles its compatible with and does not show the AWD model. I called Borla directly and the guy I spoke to said he had no idea if it would work. I was surprised by this statement. If it does fit, will it really give me better MPGs. Also, will it void my warranty? Thank for the help.

A lot of members here list aftermarket exhausts in the sigs, including those with the X. Most of the AWD differences are up front--the cat-back is mostly rearward. Also, Stillen and Fast Intentions both list their cat-backs as being for all G35 07+ variants. I think the Borla almost certainly will fit the AWD models.

the only difference in the cat-back designs is the pipe that goes from the pass. side cat to the x/h/y pipe. a different pipe is needed b/c of the transfer case i believe. i learned this the hard way b.c FI originally sent me the wrong pipe.

Really? Then maybe the Borla won't fit the X. I wonder how Stillen deals with the RWD vs. AWD. I didn't know FI has a different setup for the AWD.

I can't comment on the fit for the AWD but I had the Borla on a my 08 RWD and the tone was awsome but the cabin sound got to me. I don't know for sure if it would be called drone or just the volume. I can say that from 1500rpm up it got pretty loud in the cabin. When I floored it, it didn't seem as bad but everyday driving, even cruising on the freeway at 60 mph, I wished for something quiter. Just depends on how sensitive you are to exhaust sound I guess.

I posted on You tube with a stock G35 photo as the "video" that compared stock agains the Borla. Again, the tone was nice I jsut wanted less volume increase overall. Getting old I guess. I think that there was another guy who posted with actual video camera behind his car.

The FI exhaust tone is nice, and not loud. I know it fits the X, and I know someone with it will chime in.

To the op. If you are doing this for the better MPG than don't. It wont give you much better. You better off puting the money aside and use it for gas. LOL You can gain more mpg with a low roll resistant tire than the exhaust.

Jst my .02
