Is this a good deal? 08 G35 Sedan

Hello there,

In a couple of hours I will be test driving a 08 G35 Sedan w Premium and Navigation packages. It's black with black interior which I love. 15.5K miles on it.

The G35 still has 3 years of factory warranty. The seller also has 2 additional warranties on the car: 4 yrs left on tire/wheel warranty and 2 years left on an appearance warranty, that covers things like door dings, etc.

Does 28K sound good on this car? KBB is 27.5 but I figure those extra warranties are well worth the $500 difference.

I currently drive a Mazda3 which I absolutely love and I'm selling - I found a buyer for it and I will be delivering it on Tuesday. I was pretty sure I'd be getting a 2010 Mazda3 fully loaded but now that I get the chance of owning a slightly used G35 for just $2K more I think the G35 is a better choice. (Although the new vs used predicament is killing me!)

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks!

My thoughts are for 2k more you will be getting a Lux sport sedan versus a economy sports compact. I went through the same thing with a fully loaded 09 corolla or a slightly used 07 g35. The G is just more refine and more elegant, beside not to bag on anyone but that Mazda 3 is just another Ford Focus with a different badge. The G would a better choice IMO.

How about the price? Is 28K a good deal for a car like this one?

That's about what I paid for a fully loaded 08 G35x w/ 25K miles, about two months ago. So, sounds good to me.

Same packages in a 2007 with 23K miles is $26,790 here in La. and the dealer claims that's only marked up $160. So I'd say for a 2008 with less miles $28K is a good price even without the warranties factored in.

Thanks guys. I'm moving forward with it. Very excited, the G35 is a dream come true. I'll miss my Mazda3 though, that car is so much fun to drive!

I got a 07 g35 S, Premium 21K miles for $23k

I think the best deal on a G is after it is two years old. If you look into the cost of ownership the G takes two big hits each on its first years around $4,500 each year of depreciation. Then it is only about $1,400 every year after that. You can add a warranty too (100k miles, 3.9% financing, and certified for another $2k.

Good luck (love my car btw)

$28K sounds to high to me for a used 2008, especially one with 15K miles on it. I bought my G35S with premium, nav, etc.. back in October brand new with only 8 miles on it for $31,500 (stickered for over $41K). I also know a couple of people that have since bought brand new '08's with premium package for well under $30K. You might want to check your local dealers and see if you can find anyone with a 2008 left on their lot, or maybe see if you can pick up the one you are looking at for around $25K.

28k seems kind of high. I would wait a few months until some more g35-37 sedans come on the market.

Just an FYI.

I looked for my brand new G35S with Premium back in January 2008. The basic OTD price was $33K. High compared to what you can get today, but somewhat OK at the time. The most difficult part was trying to find a 2008 G35 left with the specs that I wanted. Obsidian with black interior was practically almost completely gone from Southern California. So while there is a waiting game to see if you can get the price down, if you become comfortable with the price, I say pull it.

Good luck! (loving my car btw)

I have a 08 G35S. It had almost 9k when i got it. It has every option on it, plus some. 19" rims, etc...
Got it for 27500! I have a personal friend who is a car broker, and he did the dirty work for me!

Good luck man! If you want his info, just let me know.

Guys,
I ended up buying the car, and I couldn't be happier. The car looks brand new, it was well taken care of and no other price got even close to it. I bought it off an individual so it was 28K OTD, as in GA we don't pay sales tax when you buy a car from a private seller (so I saved about 2K on taxes, had I bought it from a dealer). Black on black with Premium and Navigation packages was exactly what I was looking for! On top of that, the owner had bought a 5 yr Stay Nu warranty which covers anything that happens to the appearance of the car (nicks, dings, dents, interior leather scratches, etc) plus a 3 year wheel and tire warranty and a 2 year XM and traffic package. All of that got transferred to me. I don't think I could have done better personally!

Btw, I got its windows tinted this past weekend and the car looks really, really sharp!!!

Thanks to all for the input.
