bumpy ride quality with sedan?

hey everyone,

i have a 07 G35 sedan non sport, but with the oem 18'' rims.

i find that the ride quality is very bumpy/jumpy. you can feel the slightest bumps in the road.
it does happen when i go fast on the hwy (70-80), but it's almost scary because even at small dips or bumps the car would react pretty harshly.

i basically almost jump from my seat. the car doesn't keep bouncing, it's just goes up or down and then back to its normal height.

i know it's more of a sports sedan than a comfort/luxury car, but is this the ride quality that you guys get with your stock suspension?

I just had this car for about 2 weeks, n the car is still under warranty, but i dunno what the problem could be, or if it's even a problem.

My suspension is tight but it's not to the point where I think anything is wrong. I don't find myself jumping from my seat either. You should go to the dealership and ask to drive another one. See if they all feel the same to you.

that's true, i should do that. just tired of going to dealers, especially since i visited a few to purchase mine.

do you feel the bumps quite a bit? it feels like i have to hold the steering wheel with both hands for me to feel safe.

I have the sports package and its pretty bumpy, but it something I would expect for a car that handles so well. The loaner I gotten (08 sedans- base model) are still bumpy but a little more on the softer bounce side.

Check your tire pressure too. The service department severely over-inflated mine once and it made the car bumpy as hell. I like to think that our cars have the perfect suspension for someone looking for a vehicle that balances the line between sport and luxury.

Mine is great, I would say more on the luxury side than the sport side. Very good balance for me. Hopefully th dealer will be able to correct it

+1 on everything

Check your tire pressure. couple of PSI makes a huge different.

If yours is an 07 like mine, then you prob. around 20-25k+ miles? If your using the stock tires (bridgestone potenzas) they are pretty stiff. Check your tread. If you change to a different set of tires it will help out some, and again these guys have said it before check your tire pressure.

i have an 07 with a little less than 30k,
the tires are new, the dealer put some yokohama i believe.

i'll check the tire pressure, i was def hoping for more in the luxury ride comfort than the sports. maybe i ll just get used to it =)

thanks for the tips

Yes mines a Sport, so I have different size tires prob. I did notice a big difference when I jumped to a different brand of tire (much softer ride). My old potenza's had tons of road noise because they were so worn out.

Definitely check the tire pressures.

That said, I have found that G35 sport sedans have really firm rides. In fact, it was noticeably firmer than my 300ZX TT with the shocks set to full firm. It is, by no means, a "luxury comfort" type ride quality. Even my journey feels nothing like a "luxury" ride.

I too found the stock ride of the G a tad bit more rough than say... my TL-S. But I loved it anyway and quickly got use to it. If you think you feel the road more with stock suspension don't ever lower it LOL!

i drive a TL often at times too, and i find the G35's ride is rougher than the TL. but hey, the G35 is definitely much more fun to drive than the TL.
i ll definitely check the tire pressure tomorrow, i haven't had a chance.

hehe, i dont think i ll lower this vehicle. at least not in the next few years.

so i checked the PSI on my tires, and they are at 37. I ll bring them down to 33 and see if it improves.

but also, i have the 18s, and i noticed both my front and rear are the same size, 245/45/18s. But according to the sticker in the car the fronts should be 225/50/18.
what kind of difference would this make if any?
