Key problem

Hello, I'm new here, and new to infiniti. I just bought an 07 G35x, and have a problem with one of the keys. The I-key will not lock or unlock any of the doors. If it is in my pocket, it will unlock and lock the doors if I use the button on the door, and it will start the car. But it will not lock or unlock if I press the button on the FOB. Any ideas, thanks in advance, and can't wait to read all the cool stuff here. I appologize if this was discussed already, i don't have time to do a search right now, kids crap to go to.

Could just be a faulty key. I would just call the dealership, they should replace it under warranty.

It could also possibly (most likely) be a dead battery - and someone will correct me on this. If it doesn't work pressing the buttons under it's own power, I want to say that the car itself will still recognize the key whether the key has a good battery or not. I'm not sure if the key needs power for the car to recognize it.

If the battery is low it should show on the dash. If it does notr show at the start of the car than as others said most likely the buttoms are bad.

OK, thanks all. The battery is brand new, just replaced by the dealer. Is there a reprogramming sequence or something? Or like you said maybe a bad key. But I would have to think that a new key would need to be programmed to the car, right?

It was programmed correctly. If it wasn't, your car would not start. The bad ikey needs to be replaced becasue of a bad button. When you take it in ... be sure to bring BOTH keys. They both need to be present to be paired to the car.

While you are at it, see if you can keep the bad one for a spare. Have them pair all three to the car.
