tire profile question

Hey guys, longtime lurker, first time poster.

tried a search without much luck.....

i have an 08 g35 S 6mt Sedan.....225 50 18's in front, and 245 45 18's in back.....Potenza RE-A's

my buddy who had an 03 g35 6MT has some tires to give me for free, (same back tire but 225 45, 18's in front) .... the only difference is the front tires are a 45 profile....BF Goodrich Comp TA's

so old front tires are 50 profile, and the free ones from my buddy are 45 profile. Can this be done or will handling/speedo/ anythnig else be adversley affected?

Should I just take the rears or can I mount the front one's too?

Thanks guys.......

I would just take the rears. You will increase the tire to fender gap by dropping down to a 45 in front. It will look funny.

Yes, a 225/45/18 tire would create a more noticeable wheelwell gap. And according to this online tire calculator http://www.bigcustomwheels.com/rt_specs.jsp , the 225/45 will be one (1) inch smaller in diameter -- a difference of 3.5% compared to a 225/50. So it may mess your traction control, ABS, etc. if you use the 225/45s in front. The speedometer will also be off a bit; all this info is stated when you punch in your tire specs.

Hope this helps!
