Grill Options - Need Input

Hey All, well I should be getting the grill I had warrantied (due to chips in the chrome) back from the dealer anyday now, and I'll probably make a project of it to refinish somehow.

I've looked around a bit in the media share section and really like these examples:

(thanks guys for the inspiration!)

I am leaning to the satin black rather than the glossy, and like the look of all black compared to the top and bottom strips in chrome (not shown). Also I think I'll of doing something with the emblem. I am leaning to like a gray glossy or a tinted look if that's possible (I know vinyl wraps were popular at one time, can these be wrapped with tint??), something that contrasts a bit, but doesn't pop as much as the OEM chrome. Emblemless is beyond my capabilities, and I'm not sold on that look much.

What do you guys think? Thanks for any help!!

Worst comes to worse I have my OEM replacement to keep or re-install if I dont like the look of whatever we come up with.

Go matte,

I believe that most tints you can buy only bind to glass and would flake off or refuse to stick on anything else.

Kewl, thanks for the feedback guys. Looks like grill will be in my hands tomorrow. I was leaning towards to matte, and looks like it is the concensus.

I was concerned with chipping if I did go with a tint on the emblem, so I agree not sure if that'll work. I did find a tint spray used to darken head head and tail light lenses (VHT night shades). Not sure if its worth the $15 to get it shipped, unless I know I'll like the result. I may just photoshop some ideas, and find a regular spray that'll work.

Everyone loves the Matte, but consider Satin. It's add a little bit of texture I feel while not losing the Matte finish. I just used a Satin on my engine cover and plan on redoing my midnight grille in Satin Black.

It'll look great either way tho!

Thanks PC10, do you know which is Blueslate's shown in the first pic above? I am not sure I know the difference b/w matte and satin look.

Is the grill warrantied by the factory's warranty?
mine is pretty chipped, it would be nice to get it replaced

neither of these are great examples, but you get the idea
ideally - just go to hardware store where you're going to buy the spray paint and you can compare the satin vs matte

the chrome on the v36 grill is cheesy. I see them chipped up pretty bad, even with low miles. definitely a warranty issue.

they will however take the old part back. no freebies.

Guess I got lucky, Infiniti didn't want mine back.

Maybe they know the root cause by now and don't need any more to investigate.

Either way get it replaced (yes factory warranted here), and if you want it or know someone here that would, ask the dealer for the old one, can't hurt.

They replaced mine first time after 1k miles had trillions of chips on the god damn thing. 5k same on the second one. Loads of chips. They did not want to replace it. Bustards. Than I bought the Midnight grill I am at 13k and not a single chip on it. Another note the Mt Fuji sign still original with no chip on it. Go figure. Infiniti doesn't know how to chrome plastic. They suck. Also Guelph Infiniti doesn't know how to honor warranty. So no more money from me to them. I do my own maint. since they refused to replace my grill so they only will see my car if I have waranty issue.
