The difference between those two cup holders is that the first one is from an 07 model (side by side holders) the second one (with rectangular holders with straight plastic seperater) is from an 08 model.

both appear to be from sedans. dont think there is any difference with cup holders between S and non-S and 6MT and auto

Wrong...
I have an 07 and my buddy has an 08 equipped with AT's.
We both have identical cup holders and center consoles.

K.. teacher

What I can tell you for a fact is that before I bought my 08 6MT sport sedan I was first looking at an 07 6MT sport sedan.. which had the side by side round cup holders. Mine has the one-in-front-of-the-other with the plastic in between.

Also while getting my car serviced at infiniti on more than one ocasion, I was given an 07 auto loaner which has the side by side cupholders.. hence my drawn conclusion

I'm assuming you have an Auto? Did you try asking the dealer. Explain to them they sold it to you missing and you (and they) didn't realize it till now. The dealers want you to be happy with your purchase. I went back weeks later and had them fix a few dings and scratches in my used purchase, they were happy to do it.

Find the salesman that sold you the car if you have to.

The OP has an AT, not a MT, but the clarification is appreciated anyway

Class dismissed.

well you know it's funny you mention all that. the more i look in the car (it was used) the more i find that's scratched/cigarette burned/messed up. kinda disappointing but my own fault for not being more thorough prior to purchasing it.

i emailed the dealer regarding the cupholder but i'm used to other dealers just telling you that you can go buy it from their parts department. we'll see what happens i suppose.

Glad to hear that.
You loved everything about your G, other than the cup holder.
Now, life is perfect again.

do you think the cupholder from a 6MT sedan would fit in my 6MT '04 coupe. I might have gotten a little dremel crazy trying to put my iPod there.

I found that by placing two hockey pucks standing on end in near (driver side) cup holder, it prevents my 24 oz Tervis water bottle placed in far cup holder from flopping around.

I used to have to keep one hand on water bottle most of the time. Now I can keep both hands on the steering wheel.

FYI:
I went ahead and ordered the cupholder from an 05 sedan. Took the center console out and removed the cupholder. The sedan cupholder was pretty much identical to my coupe one, other than one extra tab which fit an existing screw, and one piece that I would have just had to dremel a bit to fit the heated seat switches. Instead I took the side screws out, and removed the two sides and the sliding part. Those screwed right onto the new cup holder no problem!
